Hello all. Just ran across this site. I've been reading and posting on the umpire.org site this summer and I'm learning and enjoying it.

My name is Rich. I started umpiring in '09 doing minor league little league for my local league. I've missed the game since my son finished playing in '07 and when I ran into one of his old little league coaches and mentioned this, he suggested umpiring. I thought it was a good idea and took him up on it. I enjoyed it enough that spring to enroll in New Jersey State Baseball Umpire's Association cadet class in the winter of '10. I completed their course, and and passed the test that spring to umpire high school baseball in NJ. For the past 2 years, I've done sub-varsity (haven't been assigned any varsity games yet. Guess the assignors want me to cut my teeth in sub-varsity).

I've also worked my local little league majors and Juniors the past two years along with many little league tournament games in our district at all levels. I've been lucky enough to meet other assignors for travel leagues in our area and have been doing games for them as well this past year. Fall ball ended abruptly here in NJ yesterday as 12" of snow fell on us while we were still trying to get in the last round of playoffs in a few leagues.

I love the game and I'm having a great time learning everything there is to know about this great game. Look forward to contributing to this site.

I'm in north Jersey. Sussex county. I work in Totowa, NJ, so I try to get high school games in Sussex and northern Morris county. For little league I do district 20 tourney games. I was lucky enough to get the plate for the 10U district championship this summer, and also got to do a few games in the 10u Sectional tourney that was hosted by Wallkill Valley LL this year, My "home league"

Thanks to everyone for the welcome notes.
