Saw this headline this morning on CNNSI:

"Phillies fan tasered by police."

The header on the top of my browser gives a slightly more specific version:

"Phillies fan tasered after running onto field."

Thing is, the short version just makes me smile when I think about it. After all, do we really need a reason? Couldn't we just insert "just because" right after "police" in the first version of the headline? :GL:

I wonder if they have it on video people getting tazered is funny as hell.

I don't know, but I think my favorite line in the article is "One officer used a Taser and the fan went down in a heap."

Went down. In a heap.

Nice.

I wonder if he yelled, "Don't taze me dude!"

I heard on the radio he called his dad just before he did it saying it was going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. Too bad the guards didn't just shoot the idiot.

There is a YouTube video I saw once of a guy who got tasered then as he's laying on the ground you see he's pissing on himself.

Well, all I can say is, "Nice shooting, officer." B)

You older guys (like myself) will likely remember when some drunken moron ran onto the field during a Baltimore Colts game, and stole the ball.

He was having a great time, until Colts middle linebacker Mike Curtis leveled him. And they carried the now-unconcious jerk off the field.

Curtis was reported to have said, "Anyone that comes on the field has to play by our rules."

It's just plain dangerous and you don't know what is going to happened to Monica Seles, or Tom Gamboa. Those are the most famous of them, but I am very sure there are more. And I'm sure there are more to come. Once a fan crosses onto the field they need to be dealt with in the harshest of manner possible.
