Two games tonight, Pony (13-14 yr) FP, worked the first as BU. Go to get into my plate gear between games and can't find the cup I normally wear w/ my compression shorts. I know it's somewhere in the car, but time's a wastin' and I found one in the bag that I normally wear w/ a jock.

Slipped it on and it seemed to "fit." :GL:

First inning, I keep having problems w/ it riding up, exposing the "boys" when I would get set behind the catcher. Of course, both pitchers are bringing it.

After the inning, my partner comes up as he noticed me continually adjusting, as discreet as I could, and asks if I'm alright. Told him what was going on, but was keeping my hand over as best I could and it should be OK. :D

BIG mistake!

Sure enough, first batter, second pitch comes in low, skips off the dirt right behind the plate, catcher bails and....ding dong, Houston we have a problem! :D

Caught both my hand and one of the jewels. Stunned me w/ that instant and very unique pain and I called time. Tried to walk it off as my partner and one of the coaches comes running up. But then that nauseous feeling hit and had to lean on my knees for a second. Catcher's giving the pitcher grief, who's 3 shades of tomato red...rest of the players are giggling behind their gloves.

Regained myself and reverted to the scissors, but the next pitch that came in low, I jumped like a convict sprung from prison:eek:...and sideways at that...while yelling "Ball!" Musta looked pretty dam hilarious as everybody, including my partner, is laughing...'cept me of course!

During the half-inning, went out to the car and found the other cup, thank God. :wow: (or JD more like it!)

Not sure if any of ya'll have had something like that happen, but I sure hope not.

Mike,

You poor soul...was hoping my post would highlight the folly of saying such things! :BD: As Brandon stated, you've sealed your fate!

in the front row

Yep, while I was doubled over, he was sitting there eating his nachos, then laughed and said, "Thought you could get one by me...how's that working for ya now?" Then he left...something about going to see someone named Mike!

You know whats the worst? Have an umpire named Murphy. That was my name last year.

FIVE people had to be hauled off my field and into an ambulance in ONE SEASON. Torn muscles, dislocated elbow, fractured hip, concussion, and one kid feinted. :rantoff: by the third time, I was afraid Central Jackson County Fire Dept. would recognize me :-/

I didn't want to go to the ballpark! I didn't want anybody to get hurt

Just a quick thread steal. Both my sons are black belts in American Kempo. When my son was 13 a very low belt he was in sparring class being taught by a two time national champion. The instructor was young and cocky and figured these young teens could never touch him so he wasn't wearing a cup. My son, who kicks like a mule, caught him assuming he had a cup. After we scrapped him off the floor he told me he would have to spar my son differently. That problem was my son would take a shot to get a shot and the instructor didn't count on that.

Murphy at his classic best! Sounds like an AFV moment!
