I was working a summer HS tournament. I am PU. The pitch comes in a bit outside. I call it a Ball. Then I hear fron the dugout: "Blue was that 1/2" or 3/4" outside?

I turned to the coach and said: Coach that was 1/4" outside. He laughed and left me alone the rest of the game.

I like it. I had a similar situation happen this year doing a legion game this summer. I'm PU and the pitcher has lost all control to start the 6th. F1 walks the first 2 batters on 8 straight pitches, on the 11th straight ball i can hear the manager grumbling a little, 12th straight ball was closest all inning but wasn't there. As i send the batter down the manager yells out "WHERE THE HELL DID THAT ONE MISS?" i responded calmly "The entire strike zone!" He was laughing to hard to say anymore and after the game thanked me for the laugh.

Catcher sets up inside off the plate by about 3" and the pitcher keeps hitting the spot. The coaches in the 3B dugout are all frustrated that they aren't getting the call. My favorite line is when they yell to the pitcher to keep throwing it there. Be my guest, it was a ball on the first pitch, still a ball by the 8th pitch, and will be each additional time. I don't understand.

I had a HS catcher that kept setting up off the plate and calling for curve balls as an out pitch. I balled it everytime and he was getting frustrated. They were getting ready to be mercyed and he stands up and opens and closes his glove, telling the pitcher to throw it there, maybe I would call that a strike. I explained that would end his day quickly if he tried that again. He asked what difference it made, they were already beaten. I asked if he wanted to play against the other number one team the next day? If not, keep talking, if so, shut up and catch. Not another word.

I was doing a summer tournament final between two teams of college players (AAABA) if you are familiar with the organization.

I was on the bases, and one team I had on the bases in a D1 wood bat league the previous Friday.

Top 1st, and the D1 team was on defense. Fairly close pick off play at 1B and we were in a 2 man crew. I called safe.

Out of the dugout of the defense,"Aw come on John, you're better than that."

Since there were only 5 old men and one very cute and under dressed female in the stands I yelled back. "You're right I'm better than that, that's why I got the call right!" After some laughter from the dugout I heard only silence for the rest of the game.
