Are you kidding me? I just called GDSports and asked about the DaviShield. One the lady was kinda rude. And two she said it's for lower-level High School... Rip off of a chest protector.

They have always been kind of rude on the phone, but they take care of you and make sure your order is correct. I have never had a problem...they just to learn some phone skills.

A couple things ...

First, is anyone surprised by the "level" this CP is rated for? GD stuff is never highly recommended by anyone. :banghead:

And, I can't remember who's mentioned it before, but ....what is a guy like Gerry Davis doing putting out "so-so" stuff?:shakehead:

Second, ...there is no excuse for being rude on the phone! None whatsoever!

a poster on Officiating.com did a pretty good review of the Davishield.....(kyle)....he was not impresssed.....other than light....

I would not invest in any CP that is only good for lower level baseball......

I will admit, I purchased one last year. Being a first year, I bought the combo with sg and mask. I worked games from LL to HS JV with it. Fortunately, I only took one real shot off of it during a JV game in the upper left. It was felt! I plan on getting a different cp for HS games. However, will continue to use it for lower level play games.

What I did like was the lightness and flexibility. It seemed to conform to my body well.

BTW, I do like the sg and mask very well.

Guilty as charged.

I still have it. It's okay for little kids, but doesn't offer proper protection once kids start throwing 70+. For my area, that's LL Majors.

It's a nice idea, and well constructed. But the little panels absorb too much energy, and don't disperse it over a larger area. And that's the whole concept of these devices. It probably looked good in paper, though.

Oh, and when I called to tell them I wanted to return it for safety reasons, they said once it was worn they will not take it back. I think they should market as a softball protector.

Kyle, do you think this concept could be pushed for 90 mph? If so, what do you think it would take?
