Hey guys, ...

Nice to see the Gerry Davis stance in action yesterday, huh? Hey, who was that guy behind the plate anyhow?!:wave:;)

Anyhow ...

It was good to see them get together and sort out that wierd double play, although, ..not sure why the conference lasted so long....

And, ....wait for it ..........

What CP was Gerry Davis wearing?!

The conference took way too long. I hope they aren't going to do this all the time. Otherwise, the games will take 5 hours if they have one full of weird plays.

The conversation should have consisted of this.

U2: I have an out on the catch by F6.

U1: Then, I have an out on the tag of R1.

PU: Then, we have a DP with no runners on base.

How long would that take? No where near as long as it took them to talk about whatever they were talking about.

I agree. I guess that's what happens when you have 6 guys talkin' about it. It sure seemed like Joe West had a lot to say for a guy that was out in the outfield.

 Nice Widac!

Anyone catch Gerry Davis` CP?

Watch at 1:59 of the video posted in this thread ....I can't pin-point what that is?

I did notice Davis's CP and was wondering about it. It definitely wasn't the Davis Shield.

I never got a good look at the collar, but it sort of looked like a K1 or some other soft shell? But I know that couldn't be because of Davis's relationship with both Wilson and Diamond. It didn't have any noticeable markings so I assume it was nothing in the Wilson line up, and I looked last night on his site he offers nothing similar.

I too am very curious. It looked pretty new so I doubt it is any older models which some guys still carry around. I wonder if it is something new???

absolutely Warren!

It looks like a 'matte' finish hard-shell, because you were getting just a tad bit of glare off of it..... Hmmmmmm....

Who wants to call GerryDavis sports and find out??

I recorded it and just watched it again. The conference did seem over long but it was less then 2 minutes from when the ball was hit to when PU signals 2 out.

Legit question!

Because I'm coming back to all of this after 12-13 yr layoff. Looking at equipment, etc, etc. GD has his own site with his own stuff along w/ Wilson. He's got to do the "Wilson" thing, and if not, can't 'show' another logo. There was no logo on his CP last night, and didnt' look familiar to anything out there.

That's all:)

Well a lot of us are equipment junkies. I consider myself to be a wanna-be equipment junkie. My desire to have lots of cool equipment does battle with my cheapskate side. The cheap side wins out, but when I do decide to spend the money I want to get (what I consider) the best available.

Often times the MLB guys will get things well before they are available to the general public. A perfect example is the titanium mask. MLB catchers had them for a little while, then MLB umpires started getting them. Then us amateurs wanted to get their hands on them. I read of guys trying to order them from Japan.

So some people are wondering what is/may be coming down the pipeline.

Only umpires will notice things like this 99.9% of the remainder of the viewing public didn't even notice.

First off I'm not saying either one of you are wrong, actually the opposite I guess... When they get together all 6 umpires are supposed to huddle. Even though Joe is working right field he's actually the 2-man on the crew which is why he has the plate for game 6 if there is one. He's also the most senior guy on the crew. And as a crew they are all just making sure that they are all on the same page. My personal opinion is the Joe not being directly involved in the play can just watch sees a lot more of the play than say Brian or Jeff who is standing right there and may only see their part of the play. Not saying that's how it went down, that's just my take on it.

Guys, just heard back from Mary at GerryDavisSports, ...Scott Ehret was asked what GD was wearing, and it's an old Riddell Power ....

Probably what DeMuth had on too......they looked similar

Okay makes sense, but both DeMuth's & Davis's looked in really good condition for a CP which was taken off the market some time ago. I wonder how Joe West feels with guys on the crew wearing a CP he had to get Riddell to stop making for patent infringement.
