Home run Double

I've had something similar happen back in my playing days in HS...Our team was batting, ball got near to the fence in left center. Outfielder raises hands for the ball supposedly going out of play. Umpires kill it for a ground rule double. Our HC goes out to argue that the ball is still in play. Outfielder then picks up the ball and tosses it over the fence.

OK, so drop the other shoe... what ruling did the umpires make after the outfielder threw it over the fence?

Play stood as called, was not much they could do other than possibly dump that outfielder.

I would throw the fielder, that is blatant disrespect.

Hmm.... that's unfortunate.

I'd have awarded two bases beyond the "double", for throwing the ball into dead ball territory.

Oh, and THEN I'd dump the outfielder.

Brian, my first thought was two bases but the ball was already dead so all we can do is dump the outfielder but that is definitely going to happen.

On that situation would the ball really be dead?? I mean what would classify the ball as dead, the fact that you called it dead? If I am not mistaking would this not be the same classification as they used to do in mlb when players would jump to catch a ball at the wall, make everyone believe the ball went over for a home run, and then double off the unsuspecting runner who was originally at second?
