  1. Hey guys, ....useless knowledge I don't need. Experience/suggestions for leg guards I'd love to hear.....thanks
  2. Hi there, I noticed you posted on this thread: http://www.umpire-empire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12363&page=2 Did you get one of these? Can you give me a review, and/or opinion?? Thanks

  3. Hi Kyle, I notice you commented in this thread for this CP http://www.umpire-empire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12363&page=2 I was wondering if you have 'reviewed' this CP?? Thanks....

  4. Yep just saw this and was going to post it ....thanks
  5. Thanks Brian, I didn't see these yesterday. 18-19"? Didn't know they came that big, sounds like a mistake ....I'll check it out though. Thanks again....
  6. Thanks Stan, will do! I'm looking for a decent price-point right now as I see people not necessarily looking at "top notch" shins as they do CP, etc. Hockey referee shins look enticing too for the price, ..it's ankle protection that would concern me there. There are just too many damn choices! Bottom line:banghead:
  7. Thanks Stan. After more research and posting on an additional site, I've come to the conclusion that it's time to replace them. Oddly enough, I did wipe down all my gear afterwards, ...but maybe not as well as I should, and this stuff has been sitting for 12-13 years .....so....that can't help... Thanks guys...
  8. Straps AND d-rings?
  9. Hi guys,... My old Joe Brinkman 17" +POS shins, I think, have seen their day. While inspecting the old gear, I realized the "d-rings" and clips on the straps are rusty. Is this something I can replace, or is it 'new leg guard time' ?? Thanks!
  10. Thanks guys....I had a feeling that might be b.s. ...:FIRE:
  11. .....Please...if this story is an "umpire urban legend" please tell me, but this is the story he told ...(my first assignor who I worked numerous games with and taught me a bunch!). Anyhow .... Fed game, ....16u, ..can't remember, ...anyhow ......one of the teams has a heckler, complaining about balls and strikes. My friend, between pitches, is looking around and spots where it's coming from. Not easily annoyed, ...he puts up with it for a while, and it just continues. So.... Between innings about 3 or 4 innings in, ...he goes and gets a drink of water, and quickly leaves the field and wanders over to the bleachers on the 3rd base side, ....comes up the bleachers and takes a seat close to the heckler. He says hi, and says, ..."wow , it's hot out there" .....no response .... Then , still sitting there, he says, ...."balls in" ....."let's have a batter" .... Once set, he says....PLAY BALL..... The heckler says, ..."....uhmmm Blue,....what are you doing???" My buddy says ...."well, you seem to have the best view of the plate from here, ...I figure I'd give it a shot!" The heckler looks, .....drops his head,.....looks up , smiles and says...."fair enough,..I'm done" .....my buddy pats him on the shoulder and continues on with the game! I love that story ....have no reason to doubt him, ....but have wondered if that's an urban legend umpire story! Anyone ever heard that? I laugh every time!:FIRE:
  12. Kyle, I have to jump in here, ...I agree! I used to love to watch Tim work the dish from one knee, ..I used to work the knee when I did the smaller kids because of him, ...now,...not so much. He's always been deliberate, etc, but like you said, ...it's getting painful to watch. Also, yes, Tim looked elsewhere on the tag-up, ...and was blocked by Posada on that play at 3rd, ..no excuses, just pointing it out, and ....he 'assumed' Cano would be on the bag,....there's a part of me that can see that, and how that transpired so quickly. Dale Scott's miss at 2nd on Swisher.....ouch! And, on edit: Tim McDouchebag .... Napoli has too much on his mind to play the position now because he's got to cater to Jerry Layne,.....he's really got to find a short pier while they're in LA and take a long walk.....God he's terrible!!!!!!:banghead:
  13. Yep, that's the one, ...found in the "catchers" section. Well, ...there wasn't enough of a good picture to show what the logo was, but at certain times when he turned his head, it looked like the logo matched his mask pad logo ....
  14. Hey guys ... Not sure where this belongs, but it's equipment related .... Don't the MLBU's have an "agreement" with Wilson that they can only display W stuff? (something like that ) Anyhow, LD clearly had All-Star mask and CP on the other night (he called a nice game btw). Anyhow ....the CP wasn't "as clear" but you could see the matching All-Star logo like on the bottom of his mask between his shirt fold when he turned his head. Any idea of what exactly he had on? Was that the new CPU30 (CP),...I'm sure the mask is easy to figure out... ON EDIT....I guess not, ...the mask isn't on All-Star either, but could be All-Star pads and a Wilson mask too... Anyhone??
  15. Ok, this was brought up on umpire.org and I'll paraphrase this basically...but .... The "neighborhood play" as the thread is called on the other forum is actually a slightly different situation than what was called here by Jerry Layne. The nieghborhood play involves TOUCHING the bag by the F4 or F6, but not necessarily with the ball. BUT ....the bag is touched ....... In this case, Aybar never came close .... it's the same, but different..... Sorry, I say good call .......
  16. My God, is He-who-shall-not-be-named a friggin douchebag....at 1:12 they do a highlight that clearly shows Tiexiera's toe ON the bag and the ball CAUGHT ....uhm...he's out! Did his foot come off the bag, ...YES it did, ...AFTER he caught it. He's still out. He-who-shall-not-be-named, ..."he had to come back to the bag" .....hey, ....dumbazz,....it's called physics... Why Fox pays this idiot is beyond me!!!
  17. Hi all,... Why doesn't' the SEARCH THIS FORUM section work? It just sits there and does nothing??:WTF
  18. Hi, ..Your Champion CP? What size did you get? Are you stil lin love with it? I'm probably not going to do anything over HS, so I figured for the price, it's fine! What size are you, and what size did you get? Thanks! Jeff

  19. I like, but for baseball, I immediately see too many 'gaps' ....
