15IN. DOUGLAS CHEST PROTECTOR!!!!!!!!!
CS-Blue replied to Quickstrike33's topic in Buy, Sell or Trade
I can't find the previous post with the pic...what is the title or can you post a link? -
I am also a New Balance guy. They are the only shoes I can find that consistently fit and do not wear out in 6 months.
-
When you say "cache" do you mean "Home Shopping Network?"

Two days after sending back my CP, Jason had processed the refund. It hasn't cleared at the bank yet, but my bank is usually slow with that sort of thing.

They received mine yesterday. The wait is on. Most places take two or three days to process a refund.

Even after seeing your test, I feel confident in my decision to send mine back. I am not a multiple-CP kind of guy who has one for each speed of pitching I might face. I would rather have one that can handle whatever speed I put it in front of because more often than not, I have no idea how fast the pitchers are throwing until I hit the field. I think with a few more tweeks, this CP could be something great instead of a nice addition. I am happy that SOME COMPANY out there is trying to do something new to improve umpire safety and comfort. I hope their second try is even better and I will buy (again) then.

How did the direct shot to the sternum feel? That was the shot that I felt uneasy about when I tested the CP. It didn't hurt, but I wasn't taking 70 mph pitch.

This man doesn't need the Unequal CP...he can just hold his giant brass balls in front of him for protection. :GL:

Is that a driver you are being hit with? I know when I did it with the ball on a golf club shaft, it stung but was far from painful. Sadly, my little video recorder wasn't up to the challenge (died).

Already got an email back from Jason and he said just send it back and when he gets it, he will process the refund. Done and done just like he said. I have no doubts.

WOW! You have to be kidding me. Well, after thinking about it for the last couple of days and more so in the last hour, I have decided to return mine. Looks like a $25 fail for me. But, I am glad I gave it a shot.

I have to say I was disappointed. It was weird that I felt nothing with the 3-pound sledge hammer, but the baseball on a stick did sting a bit. I think if Unequal would put even a small extra layer of padding under their "special materials" it would go a long way to make this a pretty good CP. I also think that anything 90mph+, especially toward the outside edges of the CP, would hurt a lot. No broken bones or even bruising, but it would sting like hell. It seems the more I think about it, the less I like it. Dammit.

BY the way, I tested with a baseball on a golf club shaft. I first allowed my wife to hit me (the highlight of her year) then a male friend of mine to take some real swings. No bruises or red marks with either the Champion or Unequal. The unequal felt like getting snapped with a rubber band right on the skin. Quick sting and then nothing.

Well, I thought I was going to beat everyone to the punch, but it looks like moblue beat me to it. While I won't go as far as to say that I wouldn't wear it above 10U, I will say that it isn't a 90 mph CP. Especially for the type of people who are on this site. Would I wear it in a varsity game? Yes. But I obviously have a higher pain threshold than many of you do. I have taken 80mph+ shots square to the chest in a diamond iX3 and not felt anything. I replaced that one with a Champion 210. The only reason I bought a Champion 210 was because I caught one in the collar bone once in the iX3 and it worried me. After comparing the Unequal to the Champion, I will say I felt less with the Champion (if anything). I did "feel" it with the Unequal but it didn't hurt. So with the lightweight, low-profile design of the unequal, it is staying in my bag for further testing. I give it a pass but it is far from the likes of the WV CPs or even the Champion for pure feel-nothing protection.

No, there is one without the logo. I know people who own them. They were bought that way.

Some of us have lives outside of umpiring, I will get to it when I have time. Please be patient.

There are three styles of this CP. Two of them were pre-patent lawsuit and then last (full rivet) were after. The first two are like the one Fittske24 posted and the other like above. Those two aren't very different besides the Champion Logo. I haven't seen the ones without the logo in a LONG time. They were sort of the prototypes.
-
They acted like it wasn't a big difference, but were quick to offer a big discount for the "confusion." THe non-riveted versions are very hard to find now.
-
Do not buy from them if you want to velcro version of the 220. They only have the riveted version. I ordered one from them a few months back and got a massive discount when I called them on the wrong pic. They still have not changed it. The description is wrong too.
-
My order was on 7/2 (and I have already gotten mine). By the way, they sent me some Force3 socks too.

Back to the subject of this thread....I received my CP today. WOO HOO! I opened it up and I have to say that it feel more solid that I thought it would. I was almost expecting catcher's CP type weight. But it is still lighter than anything else I have (Diamond iX3 and Champion P220). I won't have time for a ball on a stick test until later this weekend, earlier next week. But I did put it on and hit myself a few times in the chest with my hand and a 3-pound sledge hammer and honestly felt very little. No sting or pain, a little pressure and a thump. I can't wait to test it for real. I will keep you all updated.
