Well after 1 year and 1 month I'm finally headed to Iowa to bring my furniture and everything else home to Louisiana. We moved to Bettendorf, IA in Dec. of 2010 and evacuated in April of 2011. We hated it and the company I worked for was Aweful!!! So we put everything in storage and came home. Well it's been 13 months and we have finally gotten the money to get up there and bring all of it home. I hope and pray everything goes right on this trip. I'm Flying up and driving a moving truck back. It's going to be a long weekend. Anyway, if y'all don't hear from me by next week I didn't make it.... Just kidding, I didn't know who lived where. I may be passing by some of you on the way down. I will be stopping in Memphis to sleep and then down to Shreveport from there. I HATE MOVING!!!

There are some extra steps that have to be taken. I will have to see if the powder coating guys are willing to do them.

I like my Reeboks but I have to say the same thing. I took a hard ball off these shoes last week and felt more than I wanted. There definitely the weakes part of my plate gear now. I my get new once before next year. If I try to get new once right now my wife will kill me and sell all my gear. LOL :-)

I order my pants lastnight.... Should be here in 2 days.

I ordered my pink shirt last night. I don't know if I will get to use it this year but I will have it just in case I have a partner with a pink shirt.

Box or Scissors that is the question
Cajuncubsfan replied to Cajuncubsfan's topic in Umpire Mechanics
Just this year I have taken 1 - HS fast ball to the four arm 4 - Shots to the crotch HS - Dixie & LL 1 - Coller bone shot in HS (That inspired me to order my Douglas) 1 - Shot to the CP that broke a clip 4 or 5 - Mask shots I'm not complaining, I played catcher and don't mind getting hit. I'm just wondering if I should make a change. Please look at my photo above and see if you see anything. -
The other night I had the plate and got nailed on the inside of my thy with a foul ball. I don't even remember how it happened. I was in my normal box stance when it happened. This photo is from Men's League Saturday afternoon. This is my leg now My partner when I got hit here came up and checked on my when the 1/2 inning was over. He said "How you liking that box now". He is a good friend and he always works from the scissors. I only work from the scissors if for some reason I do not have my cup. I don't mind working from the scissors but I was told it would mess up my knees. What are yalls thoughts on Box or Scissors?

Did he attempt to get out of the way???
Cajuncubsfan replied to Thunderheads's topic in Professional
The kids around here have been taught to stand there and take the ball. The umpires have been letting them do this I guess. They freeze and don't move a bit. Well last year I had a Dixie Majors game (HS summer league) and I called a ball on a inside hit by pitch. The coach came unglued. I talked to my partner and he told me that they don't call that and that I need to change my call. Too this day I still think that is wrong. I want to make my stand on this but with me being new to this group and the older umpire having so much more experiance than me I have yealded to the standard. What do y'all think? A batter crowding the plate and taking a ball with out moving anything. Not even turning his back? Hell the one I got my ass jumped about I was tempted to call it a strike to make a point. -
Here are some colors I just looked up. I think the Standard Silver is the one we have in stock. If we wanted another color it would cost more.
-
If y'all can post pictures of these masks that would help me to get pricing on what it would cost.
-
The the mask probably would look thinner. I can blast these masks with plastic and not sand. I'm going to look Monday and see I they have a flat silver color. I know we have a flat black that would look cool so I bet they have flat silver. If I have a 5 or 6 of us that wanted masks done I could probably get a price brake. Maybe we could do this on the off season or something.

Where are the pictures?

I had it with me tonight couldn't help myself. I had to wear it. I had my Mentor look at it and he adjusted the straps on the back and it fits much better. I took two shots to night and didn't feel a thing. It was only 9 - 10 Dixie but it was still a ball. LOL :-) Here are some pictures of my in it. So what do you think?
-
Dang I forgot to ask. I got busy at work
-
1)We blasted it in the sand blast bay during a blast session. 2)Then it was taken to the powder coater who the sanded off any left over finish. 3) Then it was washed with a charged water (this makes the powder stay one the mask). 4) the powder coater the takes it to the powder bay and shoots it with the powder. 5) it is rolled out of that bay to the over. It is baked at 450 for 30 - 40 mins 6) it's pulled out to cool and it's all done. Powder coating is 100% better then liquid paint and last 10x as long. We do lawn furniture all the time.

Ok, at 210$ I was wanting it to be perfect. So if it like a new la-z-boy or something? Do I need to break it in? I'm scared to ware it and then not be able to send it back. My ChamPro fits like a glove but it's HOT as hell. I have two games tonight and I have the box in my office to deside if I want to keep it.
-
There is also a flat black powder coat. I have thought about doing my sons batting helmet mask with that just to see how it looks. I think flat black would look awesome.
-
Single mask cost would be $30 + shipping, but if I had multiples that price could get better.

I started my new job about about 4 weeks ago at a local painting company. One of the cool things about this job is out powder coating part of the business. One of our senior umpires had this aweful looking mask but he loved it and didn't want to get a new on so I talked him in to letting me have it for a few days so I could make it like new again. He has been talking about my silver mask so we went with that for the powder color. It looks great now and I like the color better than my new one! Take a look and let me know what you think. So what ya think!!!

Please explain why you are disappointed with the fit of it, is it too big or small? It's to small, the harness attached to high on the 15" CP. It's not wide enough. I will try to post a picture.

Very disappointed in the fit of my Douglas. I think I'm going to send it back. :-( very disappointed
