  1. Welcome!
  2. Already taken a couple shots in 3 games this year. Glad to have the WV Platinum and Platinum shin guards. Didn't feel a thing! Best $$ spent so far on gear by far.
  3. It depends on the level of Little League and the local rules. Some divisions such as Little League Minors may not enforce the IFF. I know of one league here in CT that doesn't use it.
  4. Sounds like a nice addition.
  5. Nice job!! Sounds like it would be a fun one!!
  6. LL Majors softball tonight.. 10-4 full 6 innings in 1:20.. Not bad :-)
  7. Welcome!
  8. I don't disagree and realize the youth umpires aren't going to have all the training and gear. Was just trolling YouTube and got a kick out of this one particular video. Good way to get them involved.
  9. Came across this the other night at work and got a good chuckle out if it. Thought I'd share :-)
  10. I got my mask off of eBay for $49.99 and then got the visor from Ump Attire for $9.99 and the vented throat guard for $4.99 from Ump Attire as well.
  11. I tend to like the more "mirroed" sun shield look with the lighter pads. My personal preference. Just got it in the other day and set up. You can find it with the link and scroll down a bit. http://umpire-empire.com/index.php/topic/49592-mask-porn/page-4
  12. OBR Rule 7.05 - Each runner including the batter-runner may, without liability to be put out, advance -- (h) - "One base, if a ball, pitched to the batter, or thrown by the pitcher from his position on the pitcher’s plate to a base to catch a runner, goes into a stand or a bench, or over or through a field fence or backstop. The ball is dead;" R3 scores and R1 to second
  13. Nicely done!! Sounds like it would be a great time.
  14. Welcome to the site, slick! What town in southern Wisconsin, if you don't mind sharing? I grew up in Madison. Left in 2005 after joining the Air Force and haven't lived back there since. Currently living in Connecticut. Anyway, welcome, again!
  15. If your wearing your hat correctly, why do you need a sun shield? Mostly just like the look of it with the sun shield rather than without it.. Wasn't that expensive so figured why not.. May have a little extra benefit of deflecting the sun, but we'll see.. First time out on the field this year Monday and Tuesday :-)
  16. My Wilson Dyna Lite with Doe skin padding, Diamond sun shield and Champro 4.5" vented throat guard - just arrived today :-)
  17. Welcome to the site!!
  18. Should be getting most of my new gear in today!! Hopefully it'll arrive before I need to leave for work. :)

  19. Nice!! Congrats!
  20. Great transaction with FranklinT
  21. Welcome!
  22. I work an "odd" schedule as well. Wednesday nights I work from 11pm to 7am. Thursday through Sunday is from 3pm-11pm. So I'm basically open to work about 3 days a week umpiring. Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturday mornings. So far it hasn't been an issue, but I can see how it may be going forward if I get in on the High School games next year. I'm just getting back into it this year, so the work load hasn't been too intense. Trying to get in a few places, but only one has panned out so far. We'll see how everything goes moving forward.
  23. Nice and congrats!! Here's to many years of future success
  24. I agree with you on this part. I'm just getting back into umpiring this year and just getting all the gear and uniforms I'm looking at spending about $600. I will need to invest a little more when fall ball hits, but that's down the road a bit. With that being said, this gear should last quite a while and shouldn't take that many game checks to recoup most of the money. If you're going to put the time and effort into doing it, might as well do it right.
