ofhs93 Posted June 27 Report Posted June 27 During these grueling summer tourney schedules I’m wondering if any of you have taken the leap to trying out the arm sleeves that give you UV protection and have evaporative cooling effects. I’m contemplating them this coming week because I’m going to have 5-6 games in 100 heat 2 days in a row. Quote
The Man in Blue Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Obligatory: do NOT do 5-6 games in that kind of weather. Now that you will not listen to that advice . . . 😉 ABSOLUTELY! I started doing this when I lived in Mississippi. I started with a sun shirt, but moved on to the pull on sleeves. I'll say, I never really notice much cooling effect from the evaporation, but keeping the sun off of you makes a world of difference. Now, if we could just get a long sleeved umpire shirt made from some of these cooler/cooling fabrics . . . 2 1 Quote
ofhs93 Posted June 28 Author Report Posted June 28 TY for the reply…trust me…I would not normally be doing this…it will be 2 on 1 off 2 on etc. Going to try the sleeves out…just threw one on an Cpl min ago and sprayed a little cool water mist on it and WOW…very impressive…and the keeping the sun off you is a nice bonus. Will read through those threads and I asp picked up some of the cooling towels and contemplating the cooling neck ring things as well. I’ll have a cooler with ice water at the field so I can recharge and rotate these things every few innings. It’s a SB college showcase, so thankfully 80min FTB setup. Pray for me lol…and TY again Quote
ofhs93 Posted June 28 Author Report Posted June 28 Re the pants question…I only wear Smitty Poly Spandex pants…hopefully that’s what you are referring to as the “lighter” option. Quote
concertman1971 Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 thank you @The Man in Blue for the shout out. Yes, the short sleeve compression will help you keep cool on those hot days! Also check out https://tat2x.com/collections/full-arm-sleeves I have worn the full sleeve "suntan" color ones for years. UPF50 keeps the sun off your skin without the use of sunscreen. 2 Quote
