Velho Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 Top of 7, HT up 7-6, 2 outs, R3, R2. Pitcher going from the windup stops midway and steps to 3B because R3 began yelling. Interested in everyone's thoughts (real play, just watched it happen). Quote

Interested in everyone's thoughts (real play, just watched it happen) If the umpire believes R3 tried to make the pitcher balk, R3 is ejected and the balk is nullified. (MLB 6.04 (a) 3); (NFHS 3-3-1-n) 2 1 Quote

Velho Posted May 24 Author Report Posted May 24 Thanks both. The 2 umpire crew conferred, ruled it an induced balk, warned, and reset. There had been no previous issues in the game. To confirm, the ejection is a player replacement and not an out (that's how I'm reading the cites)? Quote

Correct, an ejection does not include an out, except for specific conditions (malicious contact by a runner). 1 Quote
