BigBlue4u Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago Could this be the moment MLB has been waiting for? A chance to unload C. B. Bucknor and save face for everyone? Here's how the news release would read: Major league baseball has retired long-time umpire C.B. Bucknor for health reasons. The 63-year old Bucknor was injured when he took a 100 mph foul tip off his mask and had to be removed from the Milwaukee at Tampa Bay game. He has not returned since the April 1st incident. In its statement announcing the decision, MLB thanked Bucknor for his 30 years of major league service. . Quote

dumbdumb Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago quality of life issues start to come into play at some point like with Knight and Tschida, and Lindros back in his hockey days to personally call it a day. otherwise until the medical doctors will not sign off at that big pre season meeting in Phoenix or where ever it is held now, that includes any medical situation before the seasons medical exam, or not sign off on a new, in season injury, the umpires can come back. would assume most in season situations would look like Knights from last year. https://www.montanasports.com/sports/baseball/injury-forced-his-retirement-but-helenas-brian-knight-lucky-and-blessed-for-mlb-umpiring-career https://www.twincities.com/2013/06/02/former-umpire-tim-tschida-having-a-ball-as-prep-assistant-coach/ And so when are we going to talk about the two ahead of Bucknor for 2025 ball strike percentage which drives the cadillac, 1. Bruce Dreckman and 2. Laz Diaz and then 3. Bucknor, 4, Andy Fletcher, 5. Ron Kulpa. Don't let them off the hook. And how about a game this week in which Hoye had the supernatural hat trick of 3 ABS overturns in 1 inning. https://athlonsports.com/mlb/final-grades-are-in-here-are-the-5-worst-mlb-umpires-for-2025 and more than 1 umpire has had a sub 90% for 2 of their first 5 plates so far.
