love to ump Posted June 13, 2025 Report Posted June 13, 2025 I am doing bases, PU is good veteran umpire....batter makes contact with catcher's mitt, but puts ball in play. PU calls Time...I thought we should let action play out first, with offence getting option...we both work in different codes, is there different ways to rule on this? Quote
0 grayhawk Posted June 13, 2025 Report Posted June 13, 2025 It's the same everywhere. If the ball is put into play, point and call the interference and allow the play to continue. If the batter-runner and all runners advance at least one base, then disregard the interference (no option). If they do not, then enforce the CI or allow the offense the option of taking the result of the play. 2 Quote

Did he know it was delayed dead and had a brain fart or did not actually know it was delayed dead. Yes "delayed dead" is not a rulebook term. Quote

0 The Man in Blue Posted June 14, 2025 Report Posted June 14, 2025 Was CI ever an immediate dead ball? I swear it changed at some point. I thought it was dead back in my playing days (80s and 90s) . . . but I could be wrong and that could have been more viral umpiring. Or I could just be old and forgetful. Quote
