I've removed several billow pads from Platinum CPs. I've found it better to use a sharp kitchen knife that will slide along the plastic to cut the stitches without hacking thru the pad. Box cutter or anything with a thick handle and short blade can make it difficult to cut just the thread.

I agree with using a sharp kitchen knife to remove the billow pad stitching...worked for me too.

I also had Michael from UmpGuard (Umpiresrock74) install new padding...which has been an awesome investment. Lowered the profile a bit - excellent protection. Also updated to a newer UmpLife harness. See photos here:
