Houston, we have a problem...plate coat busted a button...I've got a blowout in damper 3

So, there I am ringing up the first of no doubt many batters this season and I hear the telltale "plink!" that can only mean the button popped on my plate coat. This is now the second time this has happened. (Fortunately, it's a 2-button coat so I fastened it with the bottom button and finished the game but, that's a sub-optimal look.)

I've got what I thought is a solid tailor. She double-stitches all the hems on my pants keeping the stitches small for strength. She lets me try on my pants with shin guards and plate shoes to get the right adjustments for my plate pants. She fitted me for my plate coat with my chest protector on. Her pricing is right, her turnaround is respectable and it's all ready when she says it will be.

So, the first time the button popped, I explained to her that I'm active wearing this, lots of arm raising, etc...the button is going to be stressed, please reinforce it. And I will say when I picked it up she had clearly reinforced it beyond how it came from factory but, it still popped a second time. Fortunately, it's the thread that's popping. It hasn't torn the thread through the fabric of the coat.

I'm going to get this addressed with a new tailor. I'll still go back to my current tailor for everything else but, I need a new approach. So, brothers...what I am I saying to the new tailor to get the right result? Is there anything technically we should be discussing such as a different kind of button or some kind of heavy duty thread maybe some thread with some elastic so, there's a bit more stretch and flex? What do you have here guys?

Exactly as @wolfe_man suggested. Fishing line, higher pull weight, the better. Hand it to your current seamstress, don’t disappoint the crafts-lady until she truly disappoints you. And a stitched on button poppin’ off isn’t a lack of craftsmanship on her part.
