2009 MLB Umpire Rosters/Crews

I've been checking several sources several times a day to see the new rosters and crews. I've heard at least 3 different rumors of how many slots are actually going to be open and who the leading candidates will be. I have not posted any of these rumors as I want to have actual facts before posting. I have seen the one on majorleagueumpires.com but have several reasons to doubt it's current accuracy. It may have been a good projection when it was published, but some things have changed since then.

With the season now having started I imagine it should be out any moment.

I believe there are still some changes to come. It was a given that somebody would be chosen to fill Poncino slot when he announced his retirement some time back.

Maybe its the conspiracy theory freak in me, but I think a few of these rumors may still be viable nearly a month into the season. The crew list on MLB.com is over a year old, and the roster in MLB.com is still 2 months old. Hmmmm.

Guccione got Poncino's spot, and is now part of Ed Montague's crew.

I have a feeling the one more retirement coming, as evidenced by this thread, http://www.outsports.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13626, could be Rick Reed. Rob Drake started with his crew right from the season opener, which is why I say that is my prediction.

I've already notified MLBAM's Nicole Burdett, at least twice, to get the ump information on MLB.com updated. No response as of yet, on the second one, although, it was just done yesterday.

Note: MLBAM is, at least in part, responsible for MLB.com, hence my choice to go directly to the source.

2009 crews were posted on the MLB.com page today sometime.

evidently there have been a couple of new guys breaking into the majors. One is in the video on the other site (and probably on here but I havent gotten to it yet) where he looked like he was asking Jerry Layne about ejecting Dave Trombley. The other one I have heard about was a kid that got his first plate job at Dodger Stadium this past week.

I saw that video and chuckled when he asked if he should eject him. I *think* that was Lance Barret, he just advanced to Triple-A this year.
