Are they directed to echo in MLB? Would have nullified Gardenhire’s main argument. I see his point, though we all have a different angle out there.

In the video you can see the 1B umpire call time and award 2nd base after Hoye does.

Gardy's type question is one the coaching fraternity is taught to ask on this no matter what, and could be asked many times and that's why he asked it.

What about a RLI where the plate calls it and they want to know why 1BU did not call, especially if 1BU only goes 2 baby steps fair. 

Many calls one guy is faster than their partner and the partner realizes they have it also, but are so slow they just yell time because the moment has passed. And just like balls and strikes some are better at ball/strike or safe/out on the bases than others.

Kind of like asking the coach before replay, why did your fielder tag him a second time of he got him the first time.

The one on the top screen at 198-205 where they start by trying to draw the line is one i have seen let go when I go to local games and IMHO that is a balk at all levels, unless moving your foot 2 inches forward from the original circle/spot around your foot is legal because any distance at all counts as distance.

IMHO you need to move your foot towards first at least enough to easily tell the heel/very back of the shoe is in front of where the original front of the shoe was or you have put the foot right back down into some part of its original spot, and stepped towards home.

If 2 inches forward counts in some leagues then do not call this a balk. But if a step to first is used I personally would not count 2 inches as a step unless that is The rule for group i am calling.

Same with right hander with spin move.

But I am probably all wet behind the ears as usual.
