+POS New Jacket

I noticed +POS has their new jacket available. It's the new style with detatchable sleeves. It looks sharp but I wonder if it's available in black. pluspos.com

It has detachable sleeves, it is not a jacket. It is a smock. And you will look just as silly as the MLB guys if you wear a smock on the field.

That said, the real +POS jacket, with the charcoal inserts, is a quality garment.

49 times out of 50, there is no need to zip the sleeves off of that type of jacket. It does look silly with the sleeves off because the zipper is so far below one's elbow that the remaining sleeves look stupidly long. That said, if you wear the coat as a full jacket, it makes a nice, lighter alternative to the heavier coat.

I think a regular, light windbreaker without the zip off sleeves would be far more popular.

I have heard the quality of the "new" Plus POS shirts and jackets is suspect...don't know that I would be buying anything from them...let alone a zip off sleeve windbreaker....

Same price, MLB issue, and so much sharper. I own both the navy and black. It is very light, which allows you to wear layers underneath in order to warm up if needed. I wore it in a game that started at 50 degrees and warmed up to 70 degrees two hours later. I was never uncomfortable.

I did a game that was 38 degrees, drizzly and windy. Just miserable for the players. I had on my UnderArmor heat gear, Uniform shirt and Majestic jacket and was warm, dry and happy on the bases.

I can't stand jackets (and shirts for that matter) with stripes or otherwise contrasting colors. We are supposed to be invisible, yet we still wear silly stripes.

The majestic is so low key, that I can still walk around the ball park inconspicuously after my game. I only have an hour between games, so I don't like to change out of my uniform. I wear the jacket at work and casually too. I could never do this with stripes. If I put numbers or association patches on it, I lose that benefit, but it still looks great.

I first saw the jacket at a clinic. Both instructors had them on and I thought they looked great. I did not even think they were actual umpire jackets until I finally connected them with what the MLB guys were wearing.

Cons:

$50 price tag is a bit high. I will never detach the sleeves.

Because it is so practical and looks really good, I still think it is a GREAT jacket and worth the price.
