I was certain of this.  If it was his intention to field the ball, he would have stopped on the fair side of the line and waited for it to come back.  He was flying across the line and dipping his glove to get the touch to kill it.  No need to move that fast across the base line to field, what was at that time, a foul ball.

As fate would have it, after reading this thread last night, I had this exact play today! Dribbler up the 1B line, F1, going to field the ball, and BR runs right into him as ball trickles foul. I delay, and call "Foul" when the ball stops. (yes , over foul ground ;)).  DHC immediately starts with "My pitcher has the right to field the ball....." I told him had that ball been fair, we would have had INT on the BR. Coach nods and says, "Yep, thank you".

Chalk up another correct call thanks to this reading this great site!!
