Last nights game featured 4 innings of "baseball" in about 2:30 with one half inning that saw 67 pitches and 9 walks, a shorter 45ish pitch inning, and a long 108 pitch, 3 pitcher and 12 walks inning. I swear fall ball makes me question my sanity. 2:10 no new inning makes me want drop dead times for some fall games.

I'm glad all of our fall ball is 1:30 drop dead.  We call it in the middle of an at bat.  Coaches ask to let his guy finish the at bat but we tell them, sorry coach, next game starts in 15 minutes, got to keep it on time.

what age level?

13-15. I could find a halfway decent 13u team to beat both teams that played last night, honestly.

I would love it if we had time limits like that! The only hard time limit we have is 10 pm because of the lights. The game starts at 7ish though so 3 hours isn't much of a limit.

We have, no new innings after 1:45, hard stop at 2 hours. Couple of weeks ago, 1:15 into the game, top of the fifth. 10-4. I told the coaches that because it was the first decent day in the last 2 weeks. I would go until 2 hours, just to let the kids play. It was a good game. 47 minutes later we ended the game, middle of the fifth 10-9. The pitcher could throw heat, and while I have a pretty big zone, it's just not that big. Worse part was, I had a heckler, giving me a hard time on called strikes. 4 walks on 20 pitches, a 3 and 0 count, if  it's even close to the strike zone, I'm ringing it up. Because the next one, might not even hit the back stop.

But this was 10u.

I hate when fall ball happens.

That's why I do volleyball in the fall.

@Kevin_K Exactly! Volleyball is a great break after a long summer of softball. I get back into umpiring fastpitch softball indoors starting in December. Strict hour and 15 minute drop dead time limits. Love it.
