Gotta love us Jersey boys huh? No, but in all seriousness why is this just becoming an issue now if he started umpiring back in 2007? How did he go through with all of the training then and how did he make it to where he is now? Did he request to have them hire a sign language interpreter then or did he just start asking recently? These are all questions that will need to be addressed, but if he has made requests to have a sign language interpreter present from day one and they've completely ignored him, then I can see where he's coming from. Umpires should always look to help fellow umpires and officials in general not make their already difficult life harder. This coming from a Jesery kid.

I've worked with Jon on the baseball field a few years ago at a youth tourney and a few summer club ball games. Haven't been assigned with him lately. I don't know if he's gone to softball exclusively. I don't do softball, but I'm surprised ASA wouldn't provide an interpreter for a mandatory meeting. He does a good job on the field. As an added bonus when working with him, you get to chuckle at the parents disagreeing with a call of his who aren't aware of his hearing impairment.

I wonder does the school he works provides a interpreter when he works ?? Also if he has a peanut issue, are they not allowed to sell them in the park???  Enough already

Mandatory clinic. No reason for him to waste his time there if he can't have an equal shot at learning and advancing. Again... Mandatory according to the article. Your questions and comment on this topic are asinine in context. I hope you are being facetious.
