Does anyone have experience with the mizuno traditional mask pads? They look kind of funny to me but I'm just wondering what people think about them. What kind of material are they made of, how comfortable is the deep "U" shape, etc.? Thanks.

I heard you cannot buy them separate from a mask. I tried a couple of years ago and they don't sell them separately.

Do you mean the lower pad has the funny slot for your chin?

I got a Mizuno mask for last year and worked fine. Cannot think of any shot to the noggin last year where I regretted buying it.

Good to know. I'd just never come across them and was wondering what people thought of them.

The Mizuno masks you get here in the US have the pads you're referring to @Stk004 ...........  Mizuno umpire masks you get from Japan do not have those style pads.  If you're referring to the catchers style pads, as stated, you have to get the entire mask to try them and I don't know of anyone who has a Mizuno catchers mask to umpire.  Their design is similar to the All-Star FM25, but it's vinyl dipped and much heavier than the FM25

I hadn't considered that in my OP. I was indeed referring to the US catcher style pads.
