As I sit here getting news that my 10th game in a row 13th overall has now been rained out. I think to a few years ago when there was a sun and the problems it caused one day.

It was the 3rd game of the day in the late afternoon. I was on the bases and some time early in the game. The sun is setting directly behind the pitcher and is really bright. A pitch comes in plunks the batter. Next pitch uncaught fastball nails my partner in the thigh. Next pitch another fastball nails the catcher in the mask. The catcher is complaining he cant see the ball.

My partner calls time and announces we're going to delay until the sun is down. The offensive coaches starts ranting and raving about we cant do that. My partner tells him its a safety issue for the players and himself lightheartedly. He tells him we'll be playing again in probably 5 minuets.

The 1st base coach walking back to his dugout stands in the box looking to the mound and says Wow that is bad. Nobody has a problem with the stoppage other than this coach who was probably looking for something to gripe about. Our game was going extremely well, not a single issue to that point.

Apparently somebody went to get the tournament director. The TD comes out to the field and explains once the game begins the field condition was in the hands of the UIC. He in now off my partners butt and we have a laugh behind home plate. We watch as the TD is taking it from this upset coach. I don't know what was said but the voices started to rise.

At this point were almost ready to play again and I hear the TD yell "Just get over it already!" Then the coach goes nuts. The TD in professional style does an ejection mechanic and yells "Your outta here!" The coach keeps going.

I ask my partner should we step in he says I should go ahead and try to walk the coach out since he'd already had words with him. I try to step in between them and the coach side steps me again and again. While he had a good EJ mechanic I don't think he realized what I was trying to do and free him up to walk away. I say okay guys we're ready to play again. It took another minute (seemed like 10 min) to get the coach off the field.

An inning or 2 later the assistant coach who replaced the tossed coach walked up to me and said he didn't know what got into his coach. He said all he could think of was he was upset earlier about how the pools were set up for that round of pool play. I found out the next day that the coache was tossed for the remainder of the tournament, which was a shame as his team did well. BTW this was an AAU 13 tournament.

That is almost humorous. The fact that the TD made a big ejection mechanic is very funny. I probably would have been laughing...

All jokes aside, that is a very petty thing to get mad about. Especially if there are lights available. I probably would have had the same reaction as the TD: Just get over it! But I would have just walked away sooner than the TD did.

You know, I was just thinking - some jerk will probably go to the last post on the last page and bump it up with a post that doesn't really add much to the conversation.

They say the first step to curing a problem is admitting you have one. Consider the first step done, lol.
