Evidently I am back on track (actually +1 over all right now). I have averaged 1 ejection a year for every year of my umpire career. Didnt have one until last week when a batter trys to leg out a triple and is thrown out by 4 steps. But in the process, triew to throw an elbow at F5's glove and is ejected for malicious contact. This one was the Washington one.

Then yesterday, I am on the bases. My partner has already warned both head coaches/benches for comments coming from each side towards us as well as the other team.

I have a close pickoff at first where R1 goes in standing (just slide people, will make it easier on all involved). F9 yells "BULL" just loud enough for me to hear him as well as the right side of the infield. But not loud enough for anyone else to hear. I turn around, give a stop sign and tell him "thats enough". F4 asks what he said and I told him "not you, him" pointing at F9.

When the inning ends, I jog towards my spot in short right. Knowing full well that I will pass by F9 as he heads for the 3B dugout. As he passes me, he says "that's on you" and is immediately ejected. This was the Oregon one.

So this is notpw a first for me. Two ejections in two seperate states in the same season.

Wait.  The first guy got thrown out for attempted MC on a glove

And the second for a comment containing no profanity, no one could hear, and where you intentionally put yourself in position to have a confrontation?

Do you umpire 4 games a year to get that 1 per year ratio?

You go get 'em, throw 'em all out!

I'm ok with both. Throwing an elbow, even at the glove, is with an intent to injure if you ask me... If he misses I guess you can't actually call it malicious CONTACT, but still get the ejection for UC.

And with the second, while it probably wasn't wise to do something "knowing full well" you'd pass him. That sounds like instigating, I might have taken a wide tour around the outfield grass so that anything said would be heard by many... But when he says "YOU", that might as well be profanity. The "y-word" so to speak. :)

HTBT on the elbow being thrown at the glove, but as for the comment "that's on you", they are showing you up. Since F9 was already warned, that was a good ejection. If you let it go, what is he going to say next? Why would you want to wait for the next comment or action F9 might take? Dump him.

The players need to learn to keep their mouth shut (especially when warned to do so) and stop blaming us and just play the game.

The contact on F5 on the first play was more then contact to just the glove and was more then enough for me to eject. Was a legit EJ and not one I will appologize for.

The second one, yes, I knew by going to my position I would cross paths with F9. However, I did not want to run the risk of him popping off and me not being able to do anything about it. I didnt go looking for it, but I knew the young man enough that if a cheap shot was going to be taken, it would be.

Once again. I will not appologize for either ejection. Both are legit and backed by the rules.
