Excellent adjustment. Started at the standard third baseline extended, read it as a direct slide/collision situation and adjusted. 

 

Staying 3BLX in this situation he wouldn't have seen anything.

It's why NCAA teaches POP to start with on all plays at the plate from within the infield -- theres a good chance of a collision type play (even if NCAA is not supposed to have crashing the catcher).
