Wish I could claim this one as it's hilarious and maybe it's an old one, but what the hey...I hadn't seen it before and funny as hell, especially for a life-long Rangers fan (regards to my fellow blues who are Yankees fans)!

In light of the news about A-Rod's charity donating less than 1% of money raised, I was reading a sports blog and came across this:

"As a diehard NY Yankees fan, I have to say that if Alex Rodriguez was thrown off the top of the Empire State Building you would have millions of Yankee fans give him a standing ovation when he landed!"

Wait...here's the best part, a follow-on response:

"Just don't throw him off in October because he wouldn't be able to hit the ground."

:spit:

Red, that was a once in a lifetime horse and seeing that picture brought back some great memories with my grandfather. That is a pretty good line on A-rod. For someone that pretty much only listens to the FAN and ESPN in the car I'm surprised I hadn't heard that one before. The Rangers are killing me, they are really struggling and need to get it in gear. As for the other team you mentioned, they can't lose enough for me!!

One I liked that I heard about the time hurricane Sandy was threatening the Eastern seaboard....

The NOAA guys are saying they're going to name the next hurricane "A-Rod" - because then it won't hit ANYTHING!

I'll never understand what the yankees see in that guy.... Its like my dad says about boats, they're just black holes in the water you throw money into. He's a black spot on the field they just keep throwing money into.

George had his sights set on returning the all-time homerun record back to pinstripes. At one point it looked like a given he'd break it. And PED's and A-Rod were not synonymous at the time.

Not to hijack a thread, but who's even in the neighborhood of even coming close to breaking it? I know A-Rod was somewhere in the 600's but other than him I'm not sure.

Doubt anyone will LEGITIMATELY ever surpass Hammerin' Hank for lifetime. Guaranteed noone will break Maris's SS benchmark.

I remember the joke that it was too bad that A-Rod wasn't flying the plane instead of Cory Lidle. That way it wouldn't have hit anything.

Thanks Birdie.  Yep, I know the heartache Red Sox and Cubs fans have endured.  I've been a Rangers fan my whole life and the last 3 years have been brutal!  I got to go see game 2 of the '10 ALCS and after we finally beat the Yankees in that series, I thought it was our year.  Even got a ticket to game 4 of the World Series (won't say how much I paid for it!), but wasn't meant to be.

Hardest was the next year.  I was in Iraq when they played the Cardinals.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, Armed Forces Network was down when they played game 6, so I didn't get to see it and Cruz' flub (the fortunate part).  Rest is history.  I couldn't bring myself to watch all of game 7, especially with no alcohol allowed to drown the sorrow.

Then last year...start the season with league-best record and the only day they don't lead their division is the last day of the season!!

The baseball gods giveth...and they taketh!

To that end, I completely concur Mike and my sympathies, though as a Cowboys fan I can't extend them to the Redskins!

I can't be a Cowboys fan until JJ isn't there anymore. I don't care WHERE he goes, so long as he GOES!

Big Red I went to game three of the 2010 series even caught a batting practice ball from Vlad. I sat down the right field line and I payed 750 dollars for a seat that during the reg season cost 60. Some might say insane but how many ops does on get to go see the first home game your team has EVER played in a World Series. I cried during the player intros. Then in 2011 shortly after the series ended my wife and I moved to outside Memphis tn where the AAA squad for the Cardinals is so guess what I heard on the tv and radio all year. I don't even want to think about last year hell even I waited till after the season to quit dipping. looks like this year is going to be more of a National League style of ball and I pray the pitching staff finally realizes its potential.

Jocko,

+1 and that is my living hell with the 'boys, as is with most...regardless of record, JJ makes it extremely difficult to be a fan.

Amarillo,

Similar here, except I was in left field for the WS game.  Paid about the same, but I agree completely.

Not sure what to expect this year with all the big changes...can't put any stock in pre-season, but doesn't help that one of their LHP prospects suffered a broken forearm today on a line drive come-backer.  Hopefully, Nolan and Ron can work some more of their magic and they can bolster the roster with some mid-season acquisitions, something that helped SF secure their two titles in the last 3 years.
