The score is
tied. The pitcher walks the first batter in the 5th inning. The coach goes to
the mound and brings in F3 to pitch and moves the pitcher to first base. The
new pitcher (original first baseman) gets the next two batters out on strikes.
The coach returns to the mound and has the pitcher (relief pitcher) and first
baseman (original pitcher) change positions again. The pitcher (pitcher who
started the inning) walks the first hitter he faces. Now, the coach returns to
the mound and has the same two switch positions for the third time.

  1. Legal moves. The coach is charged
with two trips and the pitcher who started the inning is no longer eligible to
return to the mound in this game.

b The second pitching change is not allowed. A relieved pitcher, who remains in the
game, is not allowed to return to pitch in the same inning that he was
replaced. If the coach insists, he will be warned and then ejected.

c. These moves are legal. The coach has not been charged with any trips since he made
pitching changes each time that he went to the mound. The pitcher who started
the inning but was replaced for a second time, is no longer able to pitch in
this game. He may; however, stay in the game at another defensive position.

Perfectly legal. The coach has been charged with one trip
and the pitcher who started the inning can return to pitch in a future inning.

I
think it’s A or C…..not sure.  Help
please.

R3, one out. F3 fields a fair bouncing
ball just inside the foul line, steps on the bag to retire the batter-runner,
then fires the ball home in an attempt to retire R3. His throw strikes the
helmet of the batter-runner, who is running outside the runner's lane.

  • a. Once a batter-runner is retired, he can no longer be guilty
of interfering with a thrown ball.

  • b. The batter-runner is guilty of interference since he must
have both feet on or over the three-foot restraining line. R3 is returned to
    third base.

c.. The play stands since the batter-runner did nothing

  • intentionally to interfere with F3's throw.

d. Interference should be called on the batter-runner but R3's

run scores since the out recorded by F3 was an intervening play.

Larry is the DH for the pitcher. In the fourth inning, the
coach decides to have the pitcher bat for himself. In the sixth inning, the
coach decides to have Larry bat for the pitcher again. Before a pitch is thrown
to Larry, the defense appeals.

  • a. Since the defense appealed before a pitch was thrown, the
offensive team may replace Larry without penalty.

  • b. Once Larry is removed from the DH's role, he may
subsequently return to the game but only as a pitcher.

  • c.. Larry is ejected but is not called out. His substitute will
assume Larry's position at the plate.

  • d.. Larry is called out and disqualified from the game.

In the 2nd question, read about the "intervening play" in your rule book.

I dont think this has anything to do with the intervening play but that concept is on another quesiton on the test.

2nd question is not about an intervening play..

I know.  See my follow up post.  I skimmed the question and I was wrong about the question.
