I was PU for a perfect game!

Today, the last day of my last tournament of the year, and my last plate game for the year: the visiting team's pitcher threw a perfect game!

Some details:

10U tourmanent. Let me repeat that --- a 10U tournament!

Game didn't go the full 6 innings, but not because of a time limit. It was ended by mercy rule after the 4th inning, final score 12-0.

Pitcher had 6 strikeouts among the full 12 outs. All 6 were looking. Twice he went to a 3-2 count, and got a backward K on both.

Given all the action that lead to the 12 runs, I didn't notice the perfect game brewing. When it ended, and before my partner and I could leave, the pitcher's head coach told me his pitcher had thrown a perfect game and asked me if I would sign the book so he could present that page to him. I was not aware until then!

Then I looked at the book to see the details.

I had never before been either behind the plate or on the bases for a no hitter or perfect game.

Cool! Anytime I've done 10U tournaments they've just ended in a headache and the white noise of coaches and parents whining in my head for a week.

Yeah, that is a pretty common outcome, isn't it!? That's one reason I was so surprised by the result of this game!

That's pretty cool...even if it was 10U. I had a similar HS game earlier in the spring, I was PU...Senior Day, SR pitcher threw a no-hitter. Thought it was pretty neat.

Those games are fun. I had a perfect game at a Varsity HS game last year. I remember the coach in the last inning told his pitcher to call his own pitches.

I didn't even realize the pitcher in my game had a no hitter until the game was over. I happened to look up at the scoreboard as we were walking off the field and it showed a zero for the visiting team in the hits column.

Very similar to my experience. I think I didn't notice because I was paying attention to the pitch-by-pitch details, and the offense on one side was dramatic. (Just not so much on the other side :)

It's always cool when you work a good game like that. I had a men's game that was one out away from perfect, batter hits a chopper that the pitcher fielded and launched into RF. At least it was the pitcher that screwed up.

I did a 10U game a few years ago where the VT pitcher recorded every out on a strike out. The game ended 7-1 and was a one hitter with the only hit coming with 2 out in the last inning and was an inside the park "home run."
