catchers balk was called.

Either for stepping out of the catcher's box before the pitch was released, or for catching it too for out front (not giving batter chance at it.)

You can argue it's a OOO call or you can argue that a catcher doesn't get that extra time advantage of getting that far out and up on a pitch-out.

The bolded part is only a balk during an intentional walk. The "release" of pitch in given wide latitude in that case.

FYI.. there is no such things as a catcher's balk

or a fielder's balk

By definition, a balk is an illegal act by a PITCHER with runners on base.

Why was the batter awarded first? Unless it was ball 4, it looks like a misapplication of 7.07 to me.
