I evaluated with NCTB (USSSA in Northern California) this morning. I think I got in, although I won't find out until Monday or Tuesday. After the games, I told my evaluator that I knew he couldn't tell me if he'd recommend me to the UIC or not. He responded that "I would be fine" and that "we'd work together again soon". I think that probably means I'll get in, but I don't want to be too hopeful.

Sounds kind of elitest. I bet politics play a big role. Friendly advice, don't talk bad about ANYTHING EVER, and don't talk too good about much. Best to keep a low profile and just do what you do on the field.

Congrys on getting a good eval. NCTB is a quality organization which has alot of great umpires working for them . From college guys to current pros , former pros, and lot of quality guys from all over Nor Cal. You can't go wrong getting involve with them . They will keep you busy .

It is elitist in the sense that that they want the best out of their umpires . they expect you to honor your commitments , work hard, look sharp and not suck .

You guys are definitely the most serious organization that I've worked with, and hopefully will continue to work with.

this can be said of every group I've ever called with, sans one. We, who strive to be professional umpires who officiate amateur baseball, take what we do very seriously. I want to always walk off the field with the feeling I gave the teams 100%.

As far as politics, I'm not involved in all that. I let my work speak for itself. Sometimes it's easy to get caught in the web of someone who is dissatisfied and get lumped in with them. All I'm saying is beware not to stand out in that respect.
