Watched tourney this past weekend where 8u coach inserted 2 10yr olds into lineup, and then instructed entire team to lie about the situation if asked. The very next day, the exact same thing happend with another team. It seems that this kind of behavior is rampant in baseball and only seems to be getting worse. (I was a spectator in this game. Not coaching or umpiring) To me, it's almost not worth being a part of it anymore.

That's pathetic. Winning at all cost up to and including outright cheating. TDs need to check this stuff, and ban these douchebags for 365 days from the infraction. What an ass! :big_no: :shakehead:

Why didn't you connect with the TD? I know I would have.

When my so was in LL, to play on the 10 and under tournament team, he had to have his origiinal or certified birth cert, plus three or four (i forgot which) different proofs of residency within the league -- somethign like parent drivers license + utility bill + tax bill or something like that; I think it took two full pages just to explain what was required. Truly sad that it takes all that to keep parents and coaches form cheating in little kid games.

Understood. In my opinion, taking it up with the TD is not something that you take lightly. You could risk, slander suits etc if you can't prove it. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to prove anything. Especially since the kids parents were in on it. My son was playing with the team and I elected to pull him. He didn't play in the game and we are finished with them. Probably more that I could have done; but, I didn't think of anything else to do at the time.

What I've heard of more recently is having a parent submit all the correct documents and than have an older player given the jersey of that kid with all the proper paperwork and the coach tells the kid with the correct paperwork not to show up. Then they call the ringer by the name of the real kid. It's disgusting. I heard this situation in a tourney recently. (wasn't working it I heard it from a friend). Luckily there was a little justice. The team got caught in the championship game and the TD ejected the team.

I think a life sentence is more in order here. If one of the 8 YOs were to get hurt because of the older players you would have law suits galore.

I would definitely turn his butt in. It's bad enough that he is flat out cheating, he is enticing 8 yr olds to lie and cheat too. He has no business near a kid's baseball team, travel or not.

What are you possibly even accomplishing with this mess? I mean seriously, you used 10 y/o kids to beat up on 8 y/o kids? How do you possibly explain that to your players and how do the parents of that team even come close to feeling like there was any kind of achievement?

Stupid is as stupid does.

Let's talk about the paperwork that get's turned in for a minute. Let's say 9 kids on a team, and you are handed a team roster, 9 birth certificates, 9 waivers and what ever else you request. BUT, you don't know these kids, you can not demand a drivers license from an 8 year old. All you can do is match the roster names with the birth certificates. Nothing else can be done.

When and if I ever overheard a cheating scandal going on, I would immediatley notify the TD. His choice what he does after that.

The only time I ever caught a cheater was in a tourney.....In the third inning the DC called time and said he thought there was a batting out of order infraction..........pulled scorekeepers together and we one had Baker as the batter and one had Charlie as the batter...........I asked the batter was his name Baker or Charlie..........he said Sanchez................ummmmmmm, no Sanchez on the roster.................Kid wouldnt lie.........O coach tried to say that was his nickname

TD threw the whole team out of the tourney...............

No, you don't.

I always enjoy reading your lengthy, detailed explanations. :fuel:
