Does anyone know the type or brand of protector he was wearing when his collarbone injury occured?

There have been some comments made around the umpire sites that he is still wearing the old style ribbed CP.

I understand the thought that professional umpires get hit less often than we do, yet I feel the impact of when they do is much worse.

I hope he will recover quickly and move to the hardshell clan asap...

I've done a google image search and yahoo image search every way I can think of and did not get a good look He seems always to have his shirt fully buttoned, and I could not find one of him wearing a coat. Even searching under the 2008 All-Star game I couldn't find a picture good enough to tell. I did find that he had a website but only made one entry. If I find out anything conclusive I'll let you know.

I found this image in both color and black and white in B&W it appears thay he may be wearing a ribbed CP.

This photo also disproves my prior thought that he possibly was wearing his CP too low.

clearly seems to be the old ribbed style.....Hope its now part of his museum...

as an aside.....is it just me or does it look like he does not want to come off the field?....doesnt seem to be happy about it....

most likely a carlucci. carlucci's cp's were all ribbed, and he added hard plastic plates to it if the buyer so choosed.
