hands and/or bat hit while swinging

I had a game this year where a batter was apparently hit but I called it a foul.

He was wearing some sort of hard wrist protector. The pitch comes inside. He initially steps and begins to offer at the pitch but then brings his hands and bat against his chest. His body is just turned enough away from me that I cant see a thing, but hear the noise of it hitting something solid and call it a foul ball.

The batter never tried to sell me that it hit him but the coach saw that it hit him and came to talk to me. He says it hit him. I never admitted I couldn't see and made the call based on what I heard, that would have taken things to a different level. I stuck with my call. I did mention he didn't act like it hit him. Had he tried to sell me maybe I could have been convinced. The coach yelled at him that if he's hit he needs to act like it hit him.

A few innings later the pitcher who threw the pitch was now my catcher. He asked me what I had on the pitch, he thought I was ruling the batter swung. I told him I had it hitting the knob. He told me it hit him.

After the game I asked my partner, he said from his position it was close, and he didn't feel strongly enough to signal that he had info to get me to change it.
