Those plastic buckles are easy to replace. The replacements have a slot that you can thread sewed loop through. Plus, they're pretty cheap on eBay. That shouln't be concern.

I have two extra buckles from when I got the flex delta for my gold, breaking buckles have never been an issue for me but I know Pete the reviewer did mention that he has had a buckle break from a foul ball and pointed it out as a concern for the CPU4000.

I have used a Champro soft shell for 4 years before I got my All star. It had plastic buckle on it just like the All Star. I never had an issue with them....maybe I was lucky.

Maybe my son was just unlucky, but he had that exact same buckle broken on his Champro last year (his 1st yr of using that protector) on a relatively soft foul ball that hit it just right. I will say that the buckles on the All-Star are considerably further back and more protected than they are on the Champro.

I have used my All Star for 8-9 games. I have tinkered with the shoulder caps, put a basketball in the neck, loosened straps and tightened straps. I finally figured out the issue. On the neck there is a small pad the sits between the two main pads. The air channel pad if you will...it continually choked me. I turned it over, moved it up and down as much as I could to no avail. I have some indutrial strength velcro at the office so I put a piece about 1/2-3/4 of an inch under the factory installed piece. I moved the pad down and what a difference it has made. The original location put the pad right in the notch in my collarbone and it was pressing on my neck. Hope this might help someone else...

On the neck there is a small pad the sits between the two main pads. The air channel pad if you will...it continually choked me. I turned it over, moved it up and down as much as I could to no avail.
