Had a situation last night and just wondering if I got it right.

R2 stealing on the pitch. The catcher threw to third and the runner reached safely. On the throw, the catcher lightly grazed my mask (which I didn't believe affected the thow). I called UI on the contact and returned the runner to second. After the play, the catcher said he didn't even notice the contact, but I definately felt the touch. What do you think?

I agree with Stan, it's your opinion so you can't really be wrong. I'm with you in that err on the side of killing it if there is contact.

I have had this situation happen to me and have always called it. I figure about the time that I think no one but me noticed it and then not call it , coach will inevitably see it and call me on it. Lying to a coach is a mortal umpiring sin, fibbing a little is ok, so I would have to fess up and enforce it anyway.

+1. Can't be wrong if you call it the right way.
