I am picking up some PONY games starting next week. I don't dare set foot on the diamond without reading a rule book.

A friend of mine just did his first pony game and called a kid out at home for failure to slide or attempt to get around (LL style). Manager and BoD member told him there is no such rule, but he could call "Malicious Contact" and eject him. (10 years old, YGTBSM) He told me he really wished he knew the rule rather than have to listen to Managers and Board Members. I agree.

How do I obtain the rule books for each division? I asked the assigner and he said "go to the website", which doesn't yield much , as you can imagine.

I believe the two local leagues use OBR with mods.

I have the ground rules. But I am looking for a doc with all the normal safety, sportsmanship, etc. stuff.

Suggestions?

Pony has its rule book online. You can view it by going to http://pony.org and clicking on the rules tab on the left.

95% of the book is adminstrative. Chapter 9 deals with actual playing rules. It is basically OBR with some rules regarding when runners can lead off, etc.

Thanks.

Sucks that I can't download it. It's locked up in Google Docs.

After reading those rules, I have a question:

I don't see a "Malicious Contact" rule, a "slide or avoid" rule, a Force Play Slide Rule, or anything else of that type. Even HS has these three rules. Am I missing something?

If they say there is no slide ar attempt to avoid, they would be wrong. There is no must slide rule in Pony. Make sure they give you a copy of any local rules. If they don't then they don't apply.

Understand that.

My question is that I see NO MC or Slide/Avoid SAFETY rule anywhere in the PONY book. I cant believe they dont have a rule against it. I must be missing it.

It's not there.

Is it incorporated by reference? Something like "all rules not explicitly specified herein shall conform to the OBR/NFHS/etc rulebook"?
