I feel pretty lucky compared to some of you, we have fall baseball here in my area. It lasts right around 2 months. However, after that I will be waiting around until a clinic comes along or a rules meeting, which makes the winter too damn long.

Anyway, I am thinking about getting into football and basketball. My partner tonight is starting his first year of football this year. I haven't considered football but I have been thinking about basketball.

What, if any, sports do you all officiate? Of course we all know whatever else you do you are just keeping in shape until baseball season!:D

Fall ball around here is only on Sundays. I started doing football last year and can work Thurs (sophomore), Friday (Frosh, Varsity), Saturday (Frosh Varsity, Pop Warner), Sunday (Pop Warner) and Monday (JV). I find it fun and yes it keeps in shape for baseball.

I applied for basketball this year but they had 50 applicants for 25 slots, and since I have no basketball background at all, I was not accepted. I really got bored last winter from December until February.

I may try for wrestling, since I did that in HS. Just to fill the time.

I can't afford that many clinics. :D

I use to do soccer, but am in no physical shape to do it any more. I've thought about other sports, but not too much. People have been trying to get me to do volleyball they say its like stealing money.

I too have thought about wrestling, as I wrestled for a who in my 4 years was never ranked below 5th in the nation and only lost 1 duel meet (to the # 1 team).

I think my wife would kill me if I actually took on another sport. Fall ball around here is pretty good, All the high schools have an affiliate team, and there is some rec ball too, but by far not as much as spring. I get a good number of games because there are so many guys who block out after the scholastic season is over or guys who move to other sports.

Tonight I had my very first Volleyball scrimmage. Certainly alot more than what I expected! I also work a heckuva lot of basketball besides (obviously) baseball and softball. My wife says one more sport and she's out of here. How much does it cost to get into football? LOL

You want a workout? Try reffing hockey. My legs go soft during football season and are back in perfect shape when the HS tournament rolls around in March. A couple weeks off to recouperate, and it's back on the ballfield.

I still do soccer. I did my first pre-season games today. I signed up for two boys varsity games and they threw an extra JV game in on us. I have to remember not to do three games first day out, a little sore. I'm still working fall baseball. Every year for the last twenty years they have tried to get me to pick up basketball. My wife always says something about killing me. She doesn't say to many things so I take her fairly seriously. :o

Stan - I am brand new to Volleyball and love it. I'm learning alot and getting better already - LOL. Don't get me wrong - it is not a cake walk but what a great sport once you get down the technical side. You'll love it.

Started out reffing volleyball in high school when I got cut from my HS team. Got bored with standing around in volleyball and have gone to hockey.... love it. Lots of hockey up here. I was approached by another umpire who I ref hockey with and he got me started in baseball. Now I can go all year round. My wife isn't as thrilled as me.... but I can look better in a speedo all year round.

Next week I finish out my Volleyball season. It has been a great time and I highly recommend it. Worked quite a few Varsity matches and loved every minute of it. Next up - Basketball! I am now a 4 sport ref/ump.
