What do you think about Favre coming back?

I love Favre, and respect all he has done for the game (maybe not his lay down to Reggie White Strahan). He is the ultimate competitor and does everything possible to win. That being said; I think his recent return to football is an incredible act of selfishness and the packers were wise to trade him off ASAP.

Green Bay got Rogers to replace the aging Favre to learn under him. For the past how many years Favre has said he's retiring and hasn't. This is the last year of Rogers contract and he hasn't had much playing time. If they loose him it will set their franchise back years. At the very least they need to see him in action to determine if he is the heir to the QB position.

Okay the Jets like old QB's (remember Vinnie?) and they even with Favre will be in the cellar of the AFC East. He may help them win one or two games they wouldn't have otherwise, but also remember Favre's tendency to try and do too much and end up blowing the game.

Yes an older less than 100% Brett Favre is better than 70% of the other starters in the NFL, just look at what he did last year. But friends let friends know when to say when.

I was with a bunch of Jets season ticket holders on Saturday. They were so happy that the tickets they couldn't give away on Tuesday were now worth something. My response was "remember Testaverde?" They all stopped smiling and just looked at me. I hit home.

Favre is not the kind of competitor that is going to guide a new QB. He needs to be on the field "doing it". He will provide help to just about any team he suits up for. IMHO, he is old and will find that changing teams doesn't make him younger. Football is the most TEAM of team sports. If there is weakness on the line, the QB will not win an MVP.

Favre wasn't mentally ready to retire. Maybe after 10 - 16 games with the Jets, his body will change his mind.

Hey all,

All I have to say is Brett Favre deserves whatever he gets. He has screwed with the Packers for 4? years on whether he was going to retire. He finally does retire, the Packers draft accordingly, (2 QB's IIRC) then he wants to come back after all that. I am glad that the Pack got rid of him. I used to like Favre, but he has screwed the team around for so many years and then tried to blame them, it just ain't funny any more.

BTW, I am not a Packers fan, I just like seeing a player, no matter what talent level, being put in his place by the team saying that "he" is NOT more important than "they" or "we". Aaron Rogers has handled the whole situation with nothing but class. Favre could learn something from him.

D'oh your right. I couldn't remember.

I;m a Redskins fan, but honestly over the past 4-5 years I haven't paid a lot of attention to football. I catch a game as I can. 6-7 yrs ago I could tell you most of the players on most of the teams and was somewhat knowledgeable. Now, not so much. I turned on the Cardinals vs. Saints the other day just to have on in the background while I was doing some work and saw Mark Brunell playing for the Saints. I was like wow he's still around???

I was wrong and I admit it. Favre has turned the Jets completely around. Who woulda thunk it :)
