Correct me if I'm wrong...

They're supposed to be tight. It serves two purposes, it keeps the warm air closer to his skin (like goosebumps) and it absorbs the moisture if he sweats any.

They'll fit.

To quote Ed McMahan:

They are also to stop the shin guards from rubbing the skin as he moves. Ive been wearing leggings for the last 10 years plus. I feel lost without them out there.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that. I wore a mixture of UA shorts with long soccer socks for a while before I discovered the magic of compression tights.

Long socks..... never again :(
