I just got home from the first night of our Gerry Davis clinic. Gerry Davis himself is at our clinic . He is a great guy and after the class room portion was finished up tonight he hung around to talk with all the guys. so lets see, I spent $ 90.00 to spend 3 days of clinic work with the crew chief from last years world series not to mention the other major league umpires that regulerly teach at his clinics. this will be a good weekend.

well we had a great weekend. Gerry Davis was very open to conversation and his instructors did a great job with the mechanics. without a doubt the best part for was when Gerry Davis showed me 1 on 1 the Gerry Davis plate stance. he showed me exactly where my head should be, he placed my hands where they should amd he placed me in the slot. the second best part was the picture of me wearing one of his four world series rings.

If any of you ever have a chance to attend a Gerry Davis umpire clinic I promise you that it will be worth every penny. As an assigner you can bet that I know who was there and who was not.

Sounds like it went well.... Who were the instructors?

GD was not at the one that I went to and rain interrupted a bit but given the circumstances, Higgins, Burleson, and Speck did a great job and it was certainly well worth the time and money. Fresno would have been closer for me than Stockton...but that's how the calendar fell for me.

I met GD once when he left tickets for me to see him work at a Giants game when they played at Candlestick. Seemed like a really nice guy. I wish they would do a clinic up by me here in Portland because I would love to go.
