Gonna be a cold one

We are under a winter storm warning here and it's about 28 degrees and they are predicting the biggest snow in many many years for us. It's been cold as heck all winter and today I was driving by Wake Forrest University and saw the baseball team on the field practicing. Then I got to thinking, just a little longer and I'll be on the field. I got a feeling this will be a very cold spring season. As someone said in another post: Global warming can start anytime.

It's gonna be 0 degrees here in Michigan tonite. Been that way for about three days now. My first game is March 31 and I'm reasonably certain it's gonna be cold.

sorry fellas, its about 55 - 60 degrees here in california and I have 8 games this weekend at field of dreams. I do realize how lucky I am to be able to work year round. I have lived all over the country playing baseball ( 20 years ago ) and I am not a fan of the snow.

Worst spring practice in years in North Carolina.Orange baseballs,pitcher with a WHITE mitten (yes I may him take it off). Assistant coaches constantly going on the field to shovel out the bases. Half the kids didn't bring snowshoes. On the plusside---it's BASEBALL!!

Our season starts Feb. 22. Unless it stops raining soon we may need Jim to start making plate shoes with better treads. Everything here is so wet. On the plus side though I can start to hear the leather popping and the bats warming up.

Jr. College and Div. 2 are supposed to start next week here and there is 8" of snow on the ground.

I was reading on a local forum and some guys were kicking around the idea of switching the baseball and football seasons for HS. I don't know if I agree but the reasoning was football would start when it's cold and they wouldn't have to play 3/4 of thier season in 80-90 degree weather and that's the weather baseball would start in. The way I see it though, the playoffs for baseball would be in 30-40 degree weather if they did it that way.

If they switched football and baseball, they will find themselves very short for officials in other Fall sports. We have quite a few softball and baseball officials working soccer. The same in vollyball.
