Hey it's "Tommy" time again. Remember him from my previous posts concerning his pitching histrionics? Well now he is batting, 3-2, next pitch is thigh high and runs the outside edge of the plate, he is thinking ball 4, I ring him up. F2 has framed this pitch, (for who knows what reason) just a bit longer than normal.

His glove never moves. And then we get this: "Tommy" takes two steps across the plate, turns around and looks at where F2 is still holding the ball (again, why?) looks at me smiles and shakes his head NO. At which point i tell him to just walk to the dugout. His manager, says to me, "He isn't 'Talking' to you, so leave it alone." My response was "he doesn't have to say anything, his actions are enough."

So do you dump Tommy, manager, both or let it alone?

The manager is 100% right.

All I can say is this leads from not being ejected in the last game. You learned first hand of what happens when a necessary EJ is not done. Now, he thinks he can do just about anything. If you did eject him in the other game, this may not have happened.

You became the "next crew" who has to put up with him and clean up his act if he gets out of line.

For this, wait for the next batter to get close enough to the plate. By that time, he has stayed long enough and will look like the instigator instead of you looking like you want revenge. Tell him to go then and if he doesn't go, eject him then. It will look better for any report. But, just a second or 2, I'd just look at him and shake my head "Yes" as he glances at me.

You have to be there for a definitive answer but I would probably let him hang himself a little more. I would also be inclined to tell him it was there and let him escalate it. No matter the coach needs a stop sign, he has no reason to interject here except to tell Tommy to get his butt in the dugout.

Any conversation by you is completely unnessary. If the batter's actions become more animated, warn him, then dump him.
