I planned on getting this mask and switching out my current Doe-skinned pads from wilson with it. I think the silver masks are extremely sexy.

since the welcome message on this site reminded me that I haven't posted in a while AND since the earlier post by Nate used the word Sexy to describe a silver mask AND since I read MidMoUmp's review of the mask on his blog AND since I worked with MidMoUmp when he wore that mask in the tournament (he worked FIVE plates in two days in it); I must say that MidMoUmp was very sexy in his sexy silver mask during his five plate jobs.

He does, however, get very bored and restless on the bases, just like me. He did a great job in spite of the boredom and one team's shortstop that played his position like a hockey goalie during the two games we had that particular team. It was the single worst overall play by a shortstop I have ever seen-his catcher was about to kill him for muffing almost every attempt he had in two games. Can you say kick-save? It was a good thing that guy wears a cup on defense? Too effin funny, you probably had to be there but it was comedic, as in Bad News Bears type of funny.

(This was just my weak attempt at mid-week humor).

No, we're not gay! (not that there's anything wrong with that. Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza)

What I left out of the review is how well that silver mask compliments ma sexxxy bodddy!

That shortstop sure could stop 'em (kick save!). He just couldn't get a freakin' out! Common Eddie, catch it. . . catch it. . . OH! Way to stop it with your face!

A straight-forward question deserves a straight answer:

I'd go with the magnesium mask.

Both masks are outstanding and weigh nearly the same. Unfortunately, both come with the same crappy pads. I have had great customer service experiences from both companies. Even though the Diamond is considerably cheaper than the OC mask, what makes my decision is that magnesium has a better strength to weight ratio than aluminum or steel. I have taken several hard blows with the FM-58 and it holds up great. The silver is a great mask, but I have seen some reports of denting on the umpire boards and my Diamond mask did crack a weld last year. I guess my comfort level is a little higher with the FM-58.

With that said, Diamond is a great company and this mask gets high marks from me and others who have commented. Finally, for the same price as an FM-58 you can by the Diamond AND replacement pads.

Your call, blue.

Thanks MidMo...either way I was going to go with the 50/50 new view pads on the next mask I get unless I spring for the Wilson Ti. I have ordered several items from Official Call and have had nothing but top notch service from them.

Thanks
