I had no catch on the original video; slo-mo sealed the deal. I do like the announcer, though: "Now look at the way the ball is sitting in his glove. I'm not sure if you can catch a ball in your glove in that position if you tried to."

I think some of your links are going to the wrong videos. I see nothing close on a catch/no catch in that first video.

1..Catch

2. Out easy call

How did you have a catch in the first video? Every camera angle showed that it was a trap.

I didn't see anyone call fair/foul too soon. U1 called it as F3 was picking the ball up in fair territory.

The called third strike was too low and was outside.

6. Don't call fair/foul too soon :47-:50 and good old (was it too low) called third Steeeeeeerike at 1:49

I am not speaking for Mazz, but there may have been some type of catch/no catch on that wrong link that I originally gave which you found.

Now, for the fair/foul. I was just using this as an instructional tool, for some lesser experienced umpires who may browse under the Collegiate area of this forum. Many young umpires will call foul too early when they first start ham sandwich. They usually figure the testie will continue foul when it hits the grass like this, but of course this one hit right on the lip of the grass and took a left hand turn rather than the usual right turn. You must wait to call this, rather than get all worked up about quickly giving some type of signal. Let the testie do something that makes it fair/foul before giving any signal.

Just to let you know, I am not trying to pick on anybody with these plays or the one where the guy threw the hammer with the testie in the hammer. Just trying to show examples of plays that happen at all levels. These plays, like the catch/no catch in left swamp will happen to excellent Little League umpires who work for free, excellent umpires who work for $30 per party, excellent umpires who work for $300 per party and excellent umpires who work for $3000 per party. The level of pay increases with the speed of play. Sometimes each group misses a call. They and we are all human. Noticed some errors by the players in these videos also, as well as a cat wrangler getting thrown ham sandwich on a correct call at the red solo cup.

But on the subject of pay----The hoops guys got a 300 per party raise for the first 2 rounds---a 400 raise per party for the 3rd and 4th rounds and a 600 raise per party for the last 2 rounds.

In kickball, For the regionals the raise was 220 for the whole regional for either 4 or 5 games worked. 180 for the super-regional--either 2 or 3 games worked---477 for the whole CWS. NCAA signed 25 year deal with Omaha and I'm sure ESPN or Turner has a multiyear contract for the CWS. Projected revenues for this years CWS are 5.5 million. The South Carolina cat wrangler makes $510k per year.

For the regionals--2 guys only work 4 games if there is a 5th party for their 1600 dollars. So, if there is a 5th party, those 4 guys are working for free. Totally unconscienable. Yes it is an honor, but they should be paid the extra 400 rather than 1600 regardless or the number of games worked and the pay for Regionals, SR, CWS should be no less than 500 per party and if those guys have to work the extra party they should also get full party fee rather than the NCAA hiding behind a set fee regardless of number of games worked in all their tournaments.

Oh yes, a rat is a rat??? What a douchebag. Same for the cat wrangler.

http://www.gatorcoun...ss_to_asu/11669

And I guess all the fathers would just love it if their daughters get a full ride scholarship to play for this douchebag cat wrangler and his program.

You get your $ kicked 14-4 (mercy rule in some areas) and then go blame it on the umpires, oh but I don't want to take anything away from the other team. I would be embarrassed and try to hide and just say we got our $ kicked and go interview the winners. But no, lets go blame it on the joker

OK you assignors, what do you do if they are using a pre-planned rotation and this joker comes up to work the red solo cup for this crybaby team again? Are you going to let this cat wrangler cry his way ham sandwich of having this joker for the red solo cup again, and play into his hands of getting one of the other umpires he likes better and ""thinks""???? gives him a better chance to win the party because their Steeeeeeerike zone is more suited for his pitchers and hitters????
