This question does not seem to make sence...how can a batter hit a foul ball. In order for the ball to be foul doesn't he/she have to have already hit the ball?

I am the rookie here but I would call. Just watching it the single time there seems to be a clear stop start to me. Just my thoughts.

I have 2 questions that I wanted to get some help with. They are similar and simple I just can not imagine it in my head to figure out the position. 1) The pitcher places his entire pivot foot in contact with the pitching plate and his entire non-pivot foot in front of a line extending through the front edge of the pitching plate. A) This is an illegal pitching position. B) This is a legal wind-up position. C) This is a legal set position. 2) The pitcher places his pivot foot on the pitching plate with the toe of the pivot foot in front of a line through the front edge of the plate and the toe of his pivot foot behind the back edge. His non-pivot foot is on and partially behind a line extending through the front edge of the pitching plate. A) This is an illegal pitching position. B) This is a legal wind-up position. C) This is a legal set position.

Yes...I watched it and wish they would have invested that time and money to create a study guide or materials to assist umpires with the testing.

I went back through the test i took yesterday and found just over 20 questions that I was not sure of an many were just like this where i was not sure how the real life situation would look.

That is why I hate these questions...The way i read it the runner is at third on the base so are we saying he has to leave the base to get out of the third baseman's way? Also what if this was a coach I would think the batter would be out but not 110% sure.

The thing is I have no clue the ones I got right or wrong...just a percent correct.

I am new umpire in VA and took the VHSL test this morning....not a very good result. Any suggestion of help that someone could give? Would have been nice to have like practice test or something. Thanks for anything you can suggest.

Ok...Thank you for the answer...this is what I thought. Now a twist. Bases are loaded 2 outs and the same thing happens. How many (if any) runs score?

I was asked this the other day and wanted to get the answer. A player hits a homerun and as he rounds second misses the base...he comes around and touches third and the coach tells him to go back and touch second that he missed the base. The player retouches third and returns to second then continues from there to round the bases. Any violation?

I am in the process of looking at buying a new/used mask for myself this coming season and wanted to get an idea of where is the best place to start looking for a good deal and also a good quality rig.

I had the equipment in a bag and it was starting to mildew...I need to get some damprid and put it in the tub with the equipment that will draw out any extra moisture and keep it straight. I plan to give it a once over with a mild detergent and a solution to help kill the mildew. Thanks for the help everyone.

i will do this...never thought about a dryer sheet but that is a good idea. I am going to by a plastic tube and use that to store my gear. The gear is only a few games into it's use so hope it can be saved.

I hung them free in the spare bathroom that is not used now except for my baseball stuff. The area i live in is a pretty humid climate so there are really no dry rooms in my home.

I need help to figure out what to do with my gear. I used it last the beginning of Nov. for the last time and hung it out to dry for a couple weeks and now checked on it and it is starting to mildew. What can/should I do? Thanks in advance.
