Watching this game was wondering why batter was not out for interference when he looked to me to have intentionally kick the ball when r2 was stealing 3rd. They sent runner back but I always thought the batter would be out unless r2 was thrown out. I do high school is something different in college?

R1 r2 line dr hit to fielder 4. 4 throws to first but throws it DBT. Is the catch the first play or 2nd and where can I find the rule.

Runner on 3rd 2 outs DK3 goes to fence R3 crosses plate before RLI. I know it goes from TOI. Does run count or is it still a force out for 3rd out. Rule reference please.

I also have this mask. Used it for fall season last year and loved it. Everyone I let see it tell me they don't like the extra weight and I tell them if a few oz bother you over the course of a few hours get your butt off the sofa and work out. I will take saftey over less weight all day. I have silver and black also.

Thanks guys. I can always count on this site to set me straight. Guess I will eat my crow the next time I see the coaches. Had no issues when I made the call but I would rather eat crow then have the coaches thinking that this is a rule because of my misinterpretation of a rule. Like my grandfather use to say experience is the best teacher. I won't forget this rule ever again.

Had this happen for the first time last weekend. Need to know if I was right on the ruling. 13&u HS rules. R1,R2 1 out. Batter's count 3/1. Batter swings and misses at outside pitch and just keeps running to his dugout. I signal strike (which I don't use verbals on a swing and miss unless d3k) as he is taking off like a bat out of hell for the dugout ,he high fives the on deck batter and keeps trucking. I yell that's strike 2 but with all the know it all parents are yelling run to first (which is wrong of course) he might not of heard me, which he just keeps running to the dugout and steps just inside when the AC finally realizes that I called strike 2 and stops to send him back. When he steps in the dugout I call him out for abandonment. First I'm sure that I read a thread on here about this situation and I fairly confident I got it right but in hindsight and rethinking it over the last few days I am second guessing I might have been thinking about the base runners are out on abandonment and maybe it doesn't apply to batters at bat. TD told me he thought I was right but shouldn't have called in this age bracket. I told him if it had been younger kids (10 & u) I probably wouldn't have called it. I trying to call by all the rules to the best of my knowledge( just starting my second year) and ability and was wondering if and what age do we bend the rules or should we ever? Was I being too much of a hardass? I'm here to learn, so let me have it if I got the rule wrong or if I was too hard on 13 year olds.

Took my first foul ball square in the face last night 80+ fastball. Felt nothing! catcher headed out to the mound,told him thanks but I'm ready to roll. I know you're suppose to wear tighter than a normal mask not sure I have it right. I think I have it too tight. Anyone have any guidelines? Love the mask so far!

thanks umpstu I already have it tighter than my old one but I will snug it up some more.

I will try it this week and post my opinions. I've only been umpiring a year so I haven't had much experience with alot of masks so it will be compared to a diamond dfm43 lol my first mask. Thanks for feedback.

Well a few oz's more to protect my noggin is probably worth it. I have a couple of 16/18 babe Ruth games this week and I will see how it does. Lol not that I'm looking to take one square in the face! How are the Kevlar lined pads?

Just bought one of these and I'm wondering if the extra weight is worth the protection. I have had it on and played around with it adjusting and for feel. Any feed back would be appreciated.
