    Jersey Guys

MY game just got banged for tomorrow and they have brand new turf field....apparently they didn't want to try it out yet LOL....one down probably another 10 scrimmages to get whacked!
  2. Well i know one question I got wrong on the test both times HAHA...... if a relief pitcher comes into the game and throws 4 long tosses to the plate before pitching the from the mound how many warm up throws does he have left? AS YOU GUYS CAN IMAGINE IT BLEW MY MIND....yes good umpire won't let it happen but a distracted one doing lineup things could have it slip by them if the HS HCs know this rule....MIND BLOWN!
  3. Lot of people are trying to get me to do soccer and football...I have never played a single ounce of soccer in my life so I dont know how well that would go over haha...football would be fun since I know the game very well just need to know the mechanics of officiating it and learn that side but I would enjoy that....volleyball idk lot of umpires are going that way because there is no rain outs in fall or spring seasons......somebody on this board keeps poking fun at my 13 yr aau games that take longer then his middle school vb games! haha Basketball now thats something I would get into...did I play basketball in hs no but I think that would be enjoyable on the middle school/frosh levels for me....jv maybe once I get comfortable and varsity no shot haha
  4. @th3 got jokes LOL
  5. I do HS all along the route 80 and route 23 corridors along with Sussex county. So many schools along those two routes. I'm sure we'll run into each other sooner or later. Did a 18u wood bat game about a month ago at Hopactcong HS...What a disgrace that field is. yeah "homerdome" haha look on your schedule and tell me who you working with on 5/8 sure why not haha....Kevin you do any njsab 4th july tourney games?
  6. I'm a rookie to hs baseball just got carded last year. And work in Morris county so I don't get many games in sussex except for Lenape or hopactcong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. My schedule started to come out end of October and now almost full. Subject to change based on weather but many nj umpires already answered as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Balk or NO

its called tell your pitcher to hold the set position then once the runner breaks early have F3 yell "step off" and then either step off or spin move to the short stop breaking to second base....umpires that get fooled by that are not aware of the situations that can occur thus make the wrong call and or are not in the proper b position so they can not see the pitcher or the runner in their vision....get distance boys big window picture! Stop I know what your going to say what about pick off play to first if you are deep....jab step with left foot then right quick and open the door to the play....3 step open that we use on every situation to square ourselves up to a batted ball.
  9. ^^^^ 12 players or less then you would have a protest able situation. Which is an easy one to call the TD could handle that one to the local DA.
  10. light blue (softball collar) white under shirt, mlb blue (black collar) I wear black. I don't know if this was said yet because I didn't read the responses haha
  11. yeah what MaineUmp said haha, I was typing on phone so I did not see your response.
  12. They took a chance that they didn't win it in the 6th inning regulation time but no rule to my knowledge when player mandatory play can occur during the game. Just states all players must meet their mandatory play prior to the end of game unless the game shorten by run rule. That's going off the top of my head so I don't have the rule in front of me. umpire position

b is the correct position for U3 with runner on first in three man, why because rotation play works perfectly in that situation with PU coming to third and U2 goes home and u3 already in b can stay there and cover 2nd/1st. 3 bases 1 plate with 6 eyes easy to cover that with rotation properly. and if the ball is down right field line then u2 can go out and they work the 2 man rotation together. Sweet as pie! Love the three man mechanics. As long as i'm not straight lined out, I like my chances but also make any steal plays big window not small window play because things can get hairy if you lock in to early and look for a perfect situation that's where you get yourself into trouble....read the flight of the ball then react don't assume a good throw....the best umpires still screw it up because of the A word gets pumping!!
  14. Its a good question why the state finals are held all the time in toms river. I'm not sure of that answer to be honest with you, when we have stadiums all across the state from AA trenton thunder (yankees) to tons of independent ball parks that are taken care of greatly. I mean they do play football championships at rutgers and met life, hockey at prudential center no idea why baseball isn't in a non high school complex.
  15. Unfortunately it can go both ways at full speed and umpires might be relaxing with 2 outs and a routine pop up to a state finalists first basemen they probably said wow about that collision and we are actually getting to see replays while they get one shot at it. Honestly though I don't know what they even called I mean I hope interference to start, even though the catch was made some how. Either way it can be a learning tool for any level umpire, never assume anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. i agree being there live would certainly help but if it was a banger at the bag where runner and first base come up the line from bad throw meet then sometimes you just chalk it up to players, playing baseball and you make the call but this is a kid 1. not knowing rules 2. knowing the first baseman is camping the ball 3. trying to destroy the first baseman because he doesn't know the rules. But as always thanks for the feed back and we all see things different in these cases but we are all learning every time we are out there....because if we are "perfect" then God bless you! haha Carry on
  17. I literally just saw this on youtube and said to myself, would you classify at the 11 sec mark of this video, MC? Personally I saw the runner in the last frame take that step towards the fielder (even if he didnt) and then crush the fielder. I would have had him chalked up and ejected from game but that is my personal feelings. I don't care if its state finals, I am there to enforce the rules that have been given to me by the NFHS and NJSIAA. What is everybody thoughts on this?
  18. He's up the line with a 99% chance he has his back to F2. And if he was still in the box he wouldn't have to duck. Missing my sarcasm, meaning most likely his getting drilled in the back which means it's going to hurt like h3ll lol....then the next process would be he would be laying on the ground.....haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. 2 things. 1. I would have Batter interference because it prohibited the defense a chance of an out. 2. If he didn't duck initial to get out of the way I will be pretty sure he is now down on the ground now, ouch that just hurts thinking about it!
  20. Former College catcher here, pitchers shouldn't cover I want them sitting at home where the last place a runner can get them with a spike to the leg/arm or hand. We want them to be able to pitch, yes in hs pitchers usually play other positions in college not so much. They don't do run downs they surely not covering that for me. f5 and f2 should have communicated and if f2 is third then f5 continues to home where momentum is carrying him. Btw no obstruction for that play fielder did not cause runner to change him being thrown by a mile lol....now if his sliding in or avoiding the fielder before the ball arrives you have a whole new type of call . Let's keep the name calling down we suppose to be grown ups in here let's kiss and make up now!! In closing all coaches have different theory and ideas on how to execute all different type of plays....that's how baseball involves into a great sport with so many twists that the regular viewer would not know about. So my way is just my theory that is all. Nobody is wrong as long as every base is covered! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'll have to use that line one time, then follow it up with: "Oh by the way coach, in NJ there is no such thing as a protested HS Fed game." Obviously I wouldn't say that because that would just egg him on and not to professional on my part but damn it would be fun if I could hahaha
  22. Don't feel bad I have the same size pants and same brand and guess what happened the first time I go into umpire position in "a" position.....I heard noises! not good noises look down and now my zipper line just went south....without anyone hearing I mumble "wtf cheap pos". I'm lucky I know a tailor that does everything for free for me. She said that the pants were not done properly and they miss stitched that section.....WELL SUPER they were trying to make sure I had a cooling process in line for the summer time, how nice of them!!! Except it was 33 degrees out and splitting your pants as an umpire is not exactly the best situation...good thing I had another pair for the next day...i'm going with another brand next year for sure....
  23. Yeah I don't why I said that while the whole time I'm talking obstruction just tired when I was posting from my phone, you are absolutely correct, couldn't you let me find it first before you called me out! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Those kids must be 12 or so because that is def either a 50-70 field or the little league umpire shouldn't be inside the diamond haha. I do like the call of obstruction but from video I personally had to be calling it to get the feel if the game where he would be rewarded which base. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
