That is a good idea, but around here there are very few batting cages - if any. They have become an insurance liability...mostly because of movies like this.

I just got word from Jason at ABUA that my CP will be shipped early this coming week. Then I can take a beating with my "ball on a stick" and let you all know how well this thing works.

I am sure that EXO stuff can be molded into whatever what they want...but I will wait and see what Johnny says. He is the guy that actually has one.

How many times do I have to tell you, it is NOT plastic. It is the EXO material without the neoprene covering. It is the same stuff that is on the other parts, just exposed.

I tried one on once, I looked like an NFL linebacker cut off at the knees. I am hoping the new CP works for me. I am tired of all the bulky CPs out there.

I think you all are over reacting just a tad. No one has screwed anyone yet, no one has FAILED to deliver yet. Is there a delay? Yes. Is it poor marketing to make such a big deal about something and then not deliver it on time? Yes. Am I going to cancel my order before I even see the CP? No. I had NO expectations of getting this on Aug. 1. Have any of you ever pre-ordered anything in your lives? They NEVER deliver on time. And anyone who thought that something that was supposed to be in Aug. 1 would arrive before baseball ended, in most places, is foolish. Also, the ad for the CP clearly said the price would not jump until the CPs were in stock. Are they in stock yet? No. And celt62, calling the people who jumped on the CP early "suckers" is silly. It's not like Evans and Company have made off with anyone's money. They just haven't delivered yet. Now, if it gets to mid-September and I don't have a CP yet, I might think about canceling. But until then, I am going to use the patience I was taught as a child and wait.

No, I will not be getting one with my name on it. I, like any smart person, will want to try it out first. As for the plastic shoulder caps kylejt, you already asked the question forever ago in this thread and I commented that it looked like they were the exo material (it looks like plastic) but would let everyone know once I got mine. Be patient, I know I am trying to be.

I think his idea that he doesn't need the umpires to like him is a little nuts. I mean, they don't have to like him, but if they think he is going to pick a fight just to look good, then all those borderline pitches he is trying to "help" his pitchers with are balls every time.

By the way...Mesoraco got three games for the bump(s). Which is meaningless; because of how the Reds rotate catchers, he wouldn't have played again for three more games anyway. He only catches Homer Bailey and Mike Leake. Hannigan catches everyone else (Cueto, Arroyo and Latos, which are the next three starters).

I was at the game last night. As soon as Mesoraco turned around, I turned to my wife to say "he's gone" but she was already making the EJ signal before Fairchild even tossed him. She then proceeded to explain to a friend of hers why the umpire had no choice but to toss him and how stupid is was the Mesoraco touched the umpire. I was very proud.

Have you tried Smitty? I had the same problem until I started getting that brand. They have good sized legs.

No one has said that performance doesn't count. They are just saying that appearance matters too. It may not be nearly as important as knowing what you are doing, but people will assume you don't have any idea out of the gate if you look like you have no idea what you're doing.

It's importatnt to other umpires. I'm OK with that. It's not that important to the managers/coaches. You need to comprehend this. It may not be important to coaches where you are, but here in NKY, we have coaches complain to our assigner all the time if an umpire is anything less than professional looking. Had one guy get a complaint because he and his partners pants weren't the same shade of charcoal gray. Seriously.
